I feel that I have to write this to balance what I have read in the posting by Unhappy2010Essex. We stayed in Villa Cecilia in May 2011 and it was delightful. We went with 2 friends who had never been to Nerja before and they were also very happy.
Unhappy2010Essex doesn't say how big their party was, so I can't comment on the annexe, if that is what they mean by "cellar room".
Regarding the pool - when we were there the lights were working fine, but they are on timers and it's possible that a previous occupant may have changed them accidentally. The jacuzzi temperature can be easily adjusted, which I am sure the owners would happily do, but we worked it out for ourselves.
Yes the access drive is quite steep but we had 2 cars, a manual and an automatic, and didn't have any problems. The plus side is that you are lower in the valley and there is no noise other than the hens and the goats :-) The statement about the "clutch"
is just an eggageration.
The TV was fine for us - UK free to air channels and if you are that bothered on holiday you can tune to the local version of the BBC for the News. They are somewhere in the 700 channel range. The Sky signal is not 100% down in Spain but that is explained in the villa information.
It is true he electircity will trip out, but only if you are running the oven, the washing machine and the dishwasher all at the same time, and it is very easy to reset from the panel of circuit breakers that are readily accessible.
So I've dealt with Unhappy2010Essex's negatives.
On the plus side the solar water heating is amazing - constant hot water.
The valley is beautiful and we had fresh apricots from the garden and at the right time of year there would have been figs to pick.
We found the decor and cleanliness of the accomodation absolute fine and the kitchen is very well equiped. We ate at the villa for 4 of the nights we stayed that week, just buying things from markets and local shops and then making some great meals. And I am talking about two gourmet chefs, so no holds barred on the use of the kitchen equipment.
Our friends were absolutely "blown away" by the standard of the accomodation and the facilities. My partner & I have been before, so our friends opinion is probably more objective.
We are all in the 50+ age range so we're prepared to be adventurous but appreiciate our comfort and convenience.
Would we recommend - absolutely!!!! Provided you understand the info on the web site that a car is recommended. It's a nice walk into town, but a long walk back! Although if you ask a taxi to drop you off by the bakery they all understand where you mean.
