“Not impressed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2006

My husband and I stayed at the Villa Laredo 18 - 25 October and based on the other reviewers comments I was quite looking forward to it. However, from first contact I was not impressed. When we arrived the gentlman on reception was chatting to a friend and ignored us entirely until I said a loud 'excuse me'. We got our room keys with a grunt and after unpacking decided to take a shower but there was no hot water. When I went to reception to report this (to a new but even less motivated desk clerk) I got a shrug of the shoulders and was told it was too late to call a 'technician' (it was 4.30pm) and they'd look into it the next day. Meanwhile, cold showers all round. The next morning, after a dire breakfast of cold coffee and taseless bread, I reported the lack of hot water again and demanded another room. We were then told that it was a problem in the entire building and not just our room so they would have to move us to another building BEHIND the hotel (no view - overlooking an alley). We were offered no help with moving and had to lug all our belongings across the road in the rain. Nice start to our holiday.

Then there's the pool area on the roof. Pretty dismal stuff. The sun loungers were about as comfortable as a medieval torture rack and looked just as old. The pool was full of dead insects (which we reported but nothing was done about) so we couldn't even swim.

Also, just a small thing but annoying anyway - one morning I sat down at the PC in the lobby to check my emails, put my money in and nothing happened. I went over to the receptionist, who was looking straight at me as I did this, asked if there was an Internet problem and he said yes - it's not working. Maybe he could have told me before I put money in the slot an fiddled around with the mouse for 5 minutes!

All in all this hotel is definitely not worth the money. The most miserable staff I have ever encountered anywhere with NO concept of customer service. Stay in the PYR instead - great staff and respect for their guests.

“Cosy and Convenient”

We stayed here for a short break of 4 days, the hotel is small only 50 rooms, staff are friendly and helpful, particularly the maid who kindly left me an extra pillow, all the staff speak and understand english well.
The breakfast is continental, which is the only drawback.
The location is excellent right on the front close to the port area but away from the noisy night club parts, rooms are small but well decorated and spotlessly clean, if your looking for convenience and cosiness Villa Loredo is the hotel for you.

“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2005

Excellent hotel and very well situated on the promenade. I have stayed here many times. The manager is Senor Andres Solis. He speaks very good english and has a great sense of humour. This goes for all of the reception and bar staff etc.

Rooms are well equipped and clean. Best are the ones with sea views on the front of the hotel. Super views of the whole promenade. Small roof top pool.

Can't comment on the food. I have never used the restaurant. There are so many eating places within 5 mins walk, open all day long that that the choice is ridiculous. The choice ranges from very cheap and cheerful to very good (and still cheap.) Spoilt for choice.

A hotel mainly used by the independent traveller. No package tours although it has been just occasionally. It's a gem
