“A Nice Surprise”

Having read some of the previous reviews I was apprehensive. However once I saw the hotel and the room I found myself wondering whether some of the other reviewers had stayed in the same hotel. The Las Piramides is in a top location at one end of Fuengirola with the church square, the myramar shopping centre, beach, bus station and harbour all within easy reach. The room was a good size with a sea view and a fridge at no extra charge. (Thanks to Travel Republic for yet another bargain break)The rooms were kept very clean with beds made every day. All in all I agree with Neil s, though we stayed on a B&B basis so cant comment on the evening meals. We must have been have been at the hotel at the same time. We arrived on 21st December and left on Boxing day. We didnt use OHaras bar but can reccomend Bootleggers, another Irish bar close to the hotel as well as the Gallary tapas bar just a little past O'Haras. Friendly owners and excellant food. Wouldnt hesitate to stay at Las Piramides again. Definetly encourage anyone staying in Fuengirola to explore the back streets rather than staying on the front for a taste of the real Spain. There are some wonderful little tapas bars and lots of places to sit and watch the world go by. This was our fifth time in Fuengirola, though first at The Las Piradmides and we are already looking forward to our next stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room when booking, we did and got one at no extra charge.

me and my wife have just returned from the piramides.after reading revues i was a little on edge but in all honesty the hotel is in a good spot. evening meals were spot on plenty of choice and cooked to perfection.only bad thing was bacon &sausage but scrambled egg made up for this.the rooms were cleaned everyday. inc xmas +boxing day as said before not 4 star but a good 3 star.anyone going to this hotel must also pop over the road to see the irish bar oharas. best pint ov beer+lager in the resort and a smashing couple who make you feel at home as soon as you walk through the door.all in all we had a smashing xmas.

“Very basic”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

Hotel needs serious makeover, was mod in 1960. Staff serving in restaurant also left over from those times, they have forgotten to smile or make guests welcome, Reception staff helpful and friendly.Beds basic ,room bare ,realy just for resting and leaving stuff, you need a corner suite /upgrade to get the glorious views. An upgrade is 40€ a night !. Food is realy canteen style ,supposed to be kept hot over hot water servers, but things got cold. I had cold chips each evening.Trays of sliced meats in sauce with lots of names all tasted the same.
The sauna /jacuzzi is only available for 2 hours each morning and has to be paid for by residents ! There is no entertainment in hotel except for Flamenco show on one evening per week. Altogether a very basic facility ,it gave us access to centre of resort ,but not much else

“Friendly Staff and Hotel at the right end of Fuengirola”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

We have just returned from this hotel after a 14 day holiday. The hotel staff were all very friendly and the reception staff all spoke good English. Any problems were seen to immediately. The bedroom and bathroom were kept clean and linen was changed more frequently than needed. The food was good and there was a large variety. Unfortunately during our first week numbers were low so the hot buffet at breakfast and dinner was removed ut we were served A La Carte which was good. It would have been nice to have seen all the lights on in the hotel every day but I can understand the hotel having to economise when they have low numbers. There was a pianist playing each evening so I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a lot of entertainment. We were pleased to be at the end of Fuengirola because we like it quiet. There are walks which are close by and supermarkets very close to the hotel. We used 3 English restaurants, 2 on the main road Scoffers and Corby Cafe Bar and 1 which was on the waterfront at the marina Bella Vista. All 3 were excellent and I would definitely recommend them.

Room Tip: Obviously one with the sun is the best.

“good value, but let down by its restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

We upgraded to a suite to get a good sea-view (so our very cheap room became more expensive) and a bit more space as the first room we were shown had limited sea view and was quite cramped. Rooms, especially the bathroom rather dated and needing some TLC (the curtain lining had been mended with gaffer tape). Towels very small and thin but changed every day. Staff pleasant and helpful BUT this is all let down by its catering. We had one nice meal, the rest of the stay the food was dreadful - mass catering doesn't have to be like that. The buffet salads exactly the same each evening and the hot choices dismal (except for steak with pepper sauce one night). The puddings were a joke - several colours of what looked like Instant Whip, and unpeeled/unprepared apples and oranges plus a canned option - on two nights this was a very nasty macedoine of lychees and peach. But breakfast took my breath away - inedible bacon, nasty sausages, tasteless eggs. And the hot water urn from which to make tea so badly needed de-scaling the tea was undrinkable, but the coffee was fine (however, I don't want milky coffee for breakfast - I want tea!). The bar was expensive.
But its location is great, close to the beach, and a very short walk to cafes and shops, at the quiet end of the resort.

Room Tip: only the suites have a proper sea view, at an extra 40 euros per night, but worth it as we spent qui...
