This small hotel is tucked away in the cobbled town behind the old defence walls. The building must be at least 700 - 800 years old and is a converted monastery. It is very higgledly piggledy with lots of interior patios with little fountains - all extremely beautiful. All rooms are differently decorated. Ours was a double superior, which meant it had bathroom, bedroom and separate lounge area. This cost us 68 euros per night including a simple breakfast for two people which I thought was superb value. Being such an old building there are a few things that wouldn't get in a more modern hotel, such as the radiators which must be decades old and dont work very well, but this shouldnt detract from the overall experience. The town centre is easy walking distance and there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby.
One important thing to note - make sure you are very intimately acquainted with your travel companion as there are no doors to the bathrooms in your room! Sounds strange, but when you get there it all fits in with the decor. We had a morrocan arch through to our bathroom and it would have been tricky to put up a door without detracting from the charm of the decor.
There is no swimming pool and no minibar in the rooms - but what do you expect from such a cheap hotel? I would definitely stay here again should I return for its covenience to the town and authentic charm.
