Really a lovely little hotel in a lovely little town. I had originally considered renting a quarto from a local family until I came across this gem in the online reviews. Mar Bravo mixes well the charm of a boutique hotel with the four star fit and finish of a more modern styled hotel. My room was quite spacious compared to some of the other doubles I stayed in during my trip. The hotel restaurant is quite good as well, with high quality continental breakfast included in the price. The location is absolutely perfect, directly across the street from the cliff side edge of the beach and a five minute walk to the funicular that takes you to the high town. Most importantly, the staff is extremely attentive and helpful, with most members speaking at least four languages. It was also easily the single best value for money I found during my two week trip. Traveling in early October, the price was 45 euros per night and I would have paid half again that amount without batting an eye. If you can get this rate, I suggest extending your stay by a couple of days and day tripping to Fatima, Alcobaca and Obidos. All are a short bus ride away and the bus station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The only thing I would warn fellow travelers who are looking to go out late into the night is that the staff lock the door to the hotel at some point after midnight. But they have a staff member on duty all night, so just look for the buzzer near the main door.
