I had the most incredible one night stay here. I can't say enough about this hotel. The service is impeccable, the location is incredible. I booked the least expensive room, which was very reasonably priced for the accommodations, and I still had a fantastic view of the river, the historic bridge, and the church. My room was enormous, including a very large, marble clad bathroom, and even a walk-in-closet.
The best part of this trip, though, was the hotel restaurant, which has earned one Michelin Star, and is not to be missed. I opted for the Imperial Tasting Menu, along with the associated wine tasting/ pairing. WOW. I will never forget that meal. I was travelling alone, and the one thing I wished was that there was someone to share it with me, because I doubt anyone would believe my reports of how delicious it was.
Also, I was travelling off season. I imagine the terrace and pool area, which are connected to the hotel and overlook the town and the river, must be gorgeous in the summer months. This hotel is well worth going out of your way to stay in.
Some people have complained about the decor, but I find that it is important to think of the context of the building, and its architectural style. I had no problems with it whatsoever, and whatever was lacking in "style" was certainly made up for in comfort, charm, and service.
Just fantastic. One of the best hotels I've stayed in in a while. The service alone was reminiscent of the Greenbriar. And all of this in this little out of the way town.
