“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Good location and welcoming reception area however a stay over revealed serious defects. Noise on a Saturday night with inadequate sound-proving. Our son could hear in detail an amorous couple as he walked the corridor to his room. Worse he had difficulty sleeping with the noise from and after the nightclub. His room with two single beds looked uncared for with one curtain partially unhooked and a decor reminiscent of a sixties English bed-sit.We too had disturbed sleep as we could hear conversations as people walked the corridor. The visit was topped off with an Irish breakfast consisting of inedible sausages topped with cold rashers and hash browns. My tip is order only mushrooms as they were hot.The pot of tea was perfect but why did no one call to the tables with the offer of seconds?
This hotel is suitable to dine in but not to stay over. While key areas looked well bedrooms and breakfast area were sub-standard and there is no lift. We will be back to Mullingar but not to this hotel. A pity.

Room Tip: Book elsewhere as noise is a serious problem.

“Do NOT Stay here.........”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed here for one night... Cheap & cheerful I thought it would be @ €60..... It was cheap, but DEFINATELY not cheerful........
The room we were given, was awfull...... I mean AWFULL....... It needed to be demoloished & re-buit............... It was cold, glumy, horribly decorated- so, so, so dated........ I would not let my dog sleep in here...... The bathroom had a urine oder rising up from the horribe, non-slip floor tiles......... So decided to get an upgrade.... €20 extra....
Was definately worth the extra €20..... HOWEVER, the bathroom was DIRTY-, dirty Toilet, very dirty door, & FILTHY dirty Towel heater........... The room decor was really nice, modern, tastfull, bathroom had underfloor heating & was decorated in a dark colour, so in fairness- it could have been even dirtier......
I will NOT Stay here again.... Even if I got a FREE night stay... NO WAY!!!!!

Room Tip: DON'T Stay in this hotel... Pay extra money to stay in another hotel......

“First rate friendly 3 star Hotel in the centre of Mullingar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

I had read all the reviews and was really scared as to what to expect. Well I knew it was a 3 Star Hotel and the Hotel is in need of an upgrade especially in the common areas. However, this was not that important, the staff are just exceptionally friendly and helpful, from the reception - Ann Marie to Karen in the Bar area. And the staff in the restaurant are also very helpful and friendly. I had Monkfish and Prawns and the meal was delicious. We got one of the renovated rooms and it was lovely, I did go into one of the older rooms and the green bathroom suite was not great so if you can get one of the renovated rooms. What more can I say, they are doing a great job in difficult economic times for hotels, it is a charming hotel, dont get too hung up with the common areas, the music was great, Chris Loughrey was playing on Sat night, very lively. Really enjoyable week end

Room Tip: Room 226 is one of the renovated rooms and the view is to the back of the Hotel. a bit nosiy and t...
