I sometimes stay at the Cosmopolitan Fayetteville in order to be within walking distance of Dixon Street and the great restaurants there, I love Theo's. This hotel was never good but has definitely gone downhill in the last few years. On the trip I noticed that the hallway walls and carpets were really beaten up and many light bulbs were out or blinking giving the place a bit of a "Shinning" vibe. In my room the furniture was old and beaten up. My bath towel and duvet cover were tattered on the ends. The carpet was badly stained and buckled but clearly not worth re-stretching. The bathroom was dated and the sink was cracked. My Sleep Number bed was either broken or unplugged, the controller was dead. A few years ago the hotel was sold and re-branded Cosmopolitan, from Radisson I think, and they were planning a major remodel. This never happened. When I asked about this at the front desk I was told that they were expecting the hotel to be sold again. The staff seemed pretty demoralized. The best things about this hotel are the location and the super cheap room service breakfast. I ordered pancakes, ham, coffee and tomato juice for around $8. As much as I like the neighborhood I think I’ll skip this hotel in the future.
