We stayed Sunday and Monday night in early Jan 2012. Two people one room total 306 dollars U.S. The castle was not crowded and very relaxing. The staff made me feel like a king. The evening staff were outstanding. In particular the young lady at the front desk from Poland and the Young male bartender (forgive me I'm terrible with names). The service was timely and they took time out to talk and share Castle knowledge. I highly recommend staying at least a night here. I would not return to Ireland with out making this living piece of history part of my plans. Also a great jumping off point for Sligo, Donegal etc

we stayed at the Granary ( a converted barn type construction) over Christmas 2011. It was stunning! Great accommodation, lovely and warm, modern top of the range appliances and incredible location. We were in the capable hands of Amy (one of the managers?) who even set a Christmas table with candles and provided a dressed Christmas tree. Markree Castle is very special and the grounds and surrounding Sligo are magical. My kids loved meeting the horses and the friendly black pig! Would definitley go there again. Just a note - the website defintely does not do it justice!

We stayed here as part of a family group between Christmas and New Year. We also stayed here a few years back. Nothing has changed, it is still an old castle (slightly older now!!), full of charm, its a real gem of a place. The room rate was fantastic and included breakfast. Staff are so nice and friendly and very helpful. We will hopefully be making this stay an annual family event! looking forward to coming back. We were made feel like we were at home here. Thanks!

We had a two night stay just before Christmas and the hotel looked tastefully decorated for the season and in keeping with the character of the Castle itself. This was stay number 5 and again the staff were friendly and helpful and could not be faulted. Food as always was superb and the hotel was 'toasty' warm which was great when coming in from the Chrismas cold. This is such a special place due to its charm and character and one can't help but relax here. As it's pet friendly the dogs loved it as well. Overall a great stay, made all the better due to the attitude and friendliness of the staff.
