“Very nice place on a working farm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

We stayed one night in a motorhome, and found the place to be superb. They have cottages, hostel and camping available. The camping has 2 showers, 2 toilets and is very nicely mown grass. there is now a new area of gravel for motorhomes, with level spots for about 3 vehicles. the other spots can be leveled with levelling blocks. They have an Organic garden, and when various vegetables are in season, there may be surplus available to buy. There are hens, gease and a donkey to keep you company (fenced away seperately to the campground).
It's very clean, and very friendly.
We found it easily, and it's a handy location to travel from Slane (only about 10 mins). they have a small sitting room with loads of books about the area, so it's good on a wet evening!

Room Tip: We used a motorhome spot, all are fine. Be aware you are camping near animals who can wake up and ge...

“Really handy place to see all the sights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

We stayed here as it was convenient to Slane. We booked one of the small cottages. Ours had a double bed, a single bed and bunks in it. There was also a small kitchen, a living room and a bathroom. There is a laundry room on site, and you can get eggs and vegetables from the vegetable patch and hen house. We were provided with orange juice, milk, eggs, bread, butter and jam on arrival and buns and scones. I'm afraid we didn't get around to eating it all!
There are also dormitories and a camp site to the side of the building. There is a computer in reception with free internet on it, but we never used it. The owners were very friendly and offered us a lift in to town on our first night. Just try and make sure you make a list of all the taxi numbers (provided in the info folder in each cottage) when trying to get back late at night as some wont answer the phone

“This place is definetly a Hostel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

Our group was divided into 2 sets. One set stayed in a cottage with an adjoining living room. It was satisfactory. The shower was cold and the noise from the adjoining highway was very loud. I dont think that I ever met the owner. We did use the free laundry service and the first time the dryer worked great, but then it stopped working. Luckily the room was loaded with radiators. The second set of people got put into a regular hostel room. The room was filthy and smelled terrible. They were miserable for 2 nights. I personally would never stay at this place again. There are many more options for a cleaner room in a town that has more access to restaraunts, etc. Very mediocre.

“Could have been nice ... but wasn't”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

Nice location and nice farm.
However the landlady was not friendly at all and the cottage was not clean. Cottage contains all necessary equipment but not all were working. About the shower:The heat of the water cannot be selected and the water just stops after some time.

i am very disappointed to hear you did not have a good welcome at Slane farm. This would not be the normal . We are a long time running Slane Farm and have never received a complaint like this before.. If you could let me know the date you were here I can check up who was in charge and see what happened. I would like to make amends to you and invite you to stay anytime that might suite you here at Slane Farm and you will find you will not have the same experience.
