I stayed in one of the lodges at this hotel, there was myself, my husband our two children aged 4 and 2 and 6 other relatives all stayed in the lodge. Before we went i looked at trip advisor and the reviews to be honest where not great, I made a phone call to the hotel and expressed my concerns; the lady on reception could not have been nicer. On arrival we got lodge no.5 went in it was clean and spacious and not what I expected at all. The hotel itself was yeh slighly run down but it was nice, the swimming pool is in need of a revamp but dead on. All in all good stay and have nothing really negative to say about this hotel.

We stayed in an apartment for a week, the Hotel reception is tired and in need of refurbishment. the bar area is very rundown and the food it offers is of poor quality.
The overall impression is a a hotelin need of some TLC. The sports centre was Ok but like everything else it was starting to show its age.
The apartment room was ok, clean and tidy, the dining area was ok but the chairs were in need of replacemet and one broke as we sat down. the beds were ok however the bedroom carpet was heavilly stained, and need a good clean.
a new supermarket has opened 5 mins walk from the Hotel which provides good quality food. Take noten if you use it you have to use cash or an Irish Debit card.
Overall the Hotel is very run down, showing its age. We wont be going back there although overall it did provided good value.

Holidayed in Portumna as a child every year with an Aunt of mine who lived on Clonfert Ave and always love to return for a visit. I have stayed at the Shannon Oaks before and stayed again last week .I invited my sister from Borrisokane over to dinner.during my stay.My complaint is the noise from children during our meal was continous.Now dont get me wrong I know children have to be cartered for .I had five of my own .On my second last visit the same thing happened and the smaller part of the restraunt was empty so we asked to be moved .We moved but the noise was no different. This time we were is the smaller area but no change.Parent control is needed .I would like to make a suggestion that families be given a time say 6pm to 7.30pm, optional for others, and say 7.30 to 9pm. for other residents ( no children ) Enjoyed my visit otherwise and will be staying with you again in September or October.Also aware that you are running a business . Love Portumna althought it has changed a lot.

Although we were on a "special offer" package we were really disappointed in the condition of this Hotel. It is tired, worn out and in bad need of a re-vamp.
