Stayed in the Tara for one night B&B.
After a long drive from Dublin on a cold night it was great to receive such a warm welcome.
Room was lovely and warm, beds very comfortable and powerful shower. Also had a beautiful balcony you could use (if weather was better!!).
Had dinner in the bar and could not fault the service or food, all very good and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Had an excellent choice for Breakfast and again cant fault anything.
Will make sure I visit the Tara again in the New Year, maybe when the weather gets abit warmer!!
How a hotel should be run, well done.

While on a business trip to Killybegs a colleague and I popped in here on chance for our lunch. Walking through the bar to a little side room we found a classic Irish lunchtime carvery, which we then took through to the bar to eat. The food all looked appetising and was described enthusiastically with great detail. There was a great selection with me choosing the steak pie. This was topped up with mashed potatoes, mixed veg, a roast potato and gravy. It tasted great!

My colleague had a chicken dish which he too really appreciated. This was an example of good Irish food, served well and efficiently done.

Stayed for two nights in the Tara hote,l on arrival staff very friendly. dinner was excellent and great value and breakfast both mornings was very nice, our room was very small but spotless, our only complaint was that the noise from the boats in the harbour at night made it very difficult to sleep.

Stayed at the Tara for three nights at the start of August '11 for a family reunion. the room was great and we had a nice view over the harbour (though the industrial-size trawlers aren't exactly the most picturesque!). We had dinner for almost 100 people and the reception staff, especially Laura, Grainne & Karen, were really great in sorting everything out and helping to make it a night to remember. Great full Irish breakfasts every morning.
Only negative comments - the hotel would probably benefit from a fresh lick of paint and outside window cleaning, though these are minor niggles in an otherwise very satistactory stay.
