Our room was nice, a little outdated. Dining room was nice, great service. Very large group there for dinner but the wait staff were never too busy to care of us. Internet did not work which was disappointing. Seemed short staffed at reception desk.

Bad hotel, does not worths the price at all.
It was the most expensive and also the worst guest house i ve made in iceland.
- very tiny room
- not very clean (windows for ex may not have been cleaned for 1 yr..)
- VERY NOISY. Room is under the restaurant. Not clever : late in evening and early in morning, unbearable noise of chairs ...
Moreover i noticed a 4cm gap under the room door !! So you share also corridor noise..
- superficial. In dining room decoration wants to be smart (chairs are old fashioned), but flowers are plastic made, all breakfast stuff is canned, ...
+ free internet wifi access
+ dinner food is said to be good, but i did not try it
Overall, I do not recommend this hotel.
We stayed 2 nights with our 20 people group, some were on the first floor in the main building and others on the second in another wing. Our room (in the main building) was tiny, we had to re-arrange it in order to place the second suitcase (used the bedside table which was on wheels and put a chair instead by the bed) - mind you, we had only a small and a medium trollys.
The hotel itself is very pretty, nicely decorated in a traditional way. Good service in the dining room - although we lingered on after dinner and it was late, no one hinted we should leave. There is a nice cosy living room in which we gathered for a lecture.
We stayed at Hotel Hekla as part of week-long driving tour of South Iceland. It was so cute! The hotel is conveniently located near the Golden Circle attractions, but is secluded and has fantastic views of Mt. Hekla. The room was basic (2 twin beds, as is common), but very clean. Our room had a shared deck and lovely views. The hotel was quiet and calm...very restful after a busy sightseeing day. We ate dinner in the restaurant..very fresh ingredients and tasty. Dinner was pricey (~60 USD per person), but comparable to meals at other guesthouses. Breakfast was included, and it was also good. Internet was available in the common areas. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would recommend this to other travelers.
