“Cosy and convenient”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Actually the reason we chose this hotel was mainly its price and location:. Howeveri it was more than that. The satff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the gentleman at the desk tried to do his best to help us; he gave all the possible instructions for us so that we could get the best pleasure to get to the magnificent place called Meteora. If I have another opportunity to go there again, I will definitely prefer staying at this hotel. It was very clean; the view from our balcony was beautiful and lively. teh blcony was very large and the breakfast was good enough. Well, what else could one wish to have during a trip for sightseeing and learning about new places; We did a very good thing to have chosen this hotel. Thanks!

Room Tip: the room was big enough; it was very clean and the balcony had a good view of the centre of the city

“Great location for budget travellers.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2011

I traveled with my husband in mid-June 2011 as a stopover to Meteora. We loved this lovely small town-Kalampaka very much and would like to recommend everyone to stay here if he/she wants to visit the monasteries.

Hotel Eldelweiss locates in center of Kalampaka. It offers easy access to the squares, train station, bus station and restaurants and bars.

As for the room itself, we would say the sheets are clean but the floor and the air conditioner are dusty. We stayed on the top floor with great balcony and nice view; however, it is a bit noisy as bars and restaurants are close by. Safe wasn't installed with electricity.

All in all, we would also recommend this hotel to budget travelers as the location is great and the staffs are all so kind.

“Dreadfully hard hard beds, pillows like...”

Dreadfully hard hard beds, pillows like bricks. Great view of Meteora rocks from balcony but would be hard to avoid in this town! Paid 50 euros for double incl breakfast which was fine.

“A GEM of a place - a bit careworn, but very clean and REALLY charming staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

We stayed here for three nights in July - we had two rooms on the top floor with the biggest terraces, I mean really HUGE, from which we could see almost 360 degrees. All the rooms have nice balconies, but guess we were just lucky to have these two rooms - it was not quite high season.

The rooms had good sized fridges, and we bought stuff at the local supermarket so we could have picnic lunches and evening drinks, watching the fabulous rocks of Meteora changing colour thought the day as the light changed.

The staff were absolutely charming, nothing was too much trouble for them (even providing a wine bucket and some ice for the wine I had bought from the supermarket, for instance).

Breakfast was excellent, a good selection of foods and prompt arrival of coffee and tea.

The pool was big, clean and we had it to ourselves mostly (!) - you need to take your own towels but there is a laundry just around the corner if you want them washed before you move on.

The bathrooms were very dated and tired, but very, very clean, so no complaints there!

My husband and I went off on a long hike one day and left our 17 and 14 year olds in the hotel, sleeping in and then playing in the pool, and we felt completely safe in the knowledge that the staff would just keep a gentle eye out for them.

Restaurant not operating at the time we stayed there - but a good taverna next door - so good we ate there twice. Another one up the road also very good. Kalambaka is a nice town.

Really,I cannot recommend this one enough - a very marvellous place, and excellent value (unlike the 5 star hotel Electra Palace in Thessaloniki !).
