We stayed here for three nights in July - we had two rooms on the top floor with the biggest terraces, I mean really HUGE, from which we could see almost 360 degrees. All the rooms have nice balconies, but guess we were just lucky to have these two rooms - it was not quite high season.
The rooms had good sized fridges, and we bought stuff at the local supermarket so we could have picnic lunches and evening drinks, watching the fabulous rocks of Meteora changing colour thought the day as the light changed.
The staff were absolutely charming, nothing was too much trouble for them (even providing a wine bucket and some ice for the wine I had bought from the supermarket, for instance).
Breakfast was excellent, a good selection of foods and prompt arrival of coffee and tea.
The pool was big, clean and we had it to ourselves mostly (!) - you need to take your own towels but there is a laundry just around the corner if you want them washed before you move on.
The bathrooms were very dated and tired, but very, very clean, so no complaints there!
My husband and I went off on a long hike one day and left our 17 and 14 year olds in the hotel, sleeping in and then playing in the pool, and we felt completely safe in the knowledge that the staff would just keep a gentle eye out for them.
Restaurant not operating at the time we stayed there - but a good taverna next door - so good we ate there twice. Another one up the road also very good. Kalambaka is a nice town.
Really,I cannot recommend this one enough - a very marvellous place, and excellent value (unlike the 5 star hotel Electra Palace in Thessaloniki !).
