A friend of mine and her mother were trying to get away for a weekend and found this hotel. We called prior to leaving to make sure that if we were a few minutes passed closing that we could still get our room key. When we arrived the front desk associate said that he was mad that he had to wait 5 minutes past closing even though we called and explained our situation. I went ahead and paid the 67 dollars for the room and then he found that one more person was with our party. He tried making me give him 20 dollars to let her stay in the room. I told him that this was a bribe and illegal in the U.S. He did not like this very much. He was extremely rude and when I told him that he would not bribe me he told us to get out. I have never had anything like this happen to me. I said I would be happy to leave because at that point I did not want to stay there anyways. But he was refusing to give me my 67 dollars back. I told him that I would not leave until I got my money back and he said that since we cancelled we still could not have the money. He showed me a piece of paper for maybe for one second and Said see here it says that you can't get your money. I asked to see the paper and he would not show it to me. This tells me that he was lying. I said you are being very rude and this service is terrible. This upset him even more telling me that he didn't want us in his hotel. Implying that we were bad people. I said what can I do to get my money back for the room and he said that there would be a fee but did not have any sort of set fee schedule. My friend suggested 30 dollars which he took with no problem (another bribe). This was the worst experience that I have ever had. I paid thirty dollars for a man to degrade me and the people I was with. At 11:00 p.m. We had to find another hotel which the place we ended up at said that they have had people come in saying the same things. I would never stay or recommend colonial inn to any of my friends or family.
