“Quiet and relaxing, with delicious food.”

This impressive 19th century hotel offers a wonderfully peaceful setting, good service and delicious food. Once you have found this family run hotel hidden in the countryside (head for Bazincourt-sur-Epte and take a small side road, or check out google directions) you can relax by the pool or under the trees on the comfortable loungers. Our room was lovely, well furnished, with fabric lined walls and views across to the fields. We stayed 3 nights half board with a set menu, the dinners were cooked perfectly, breakfast is freshfruit and freshly baked breads.
The nearby town of Gisors is charming, and Giverny with Monet's house and garden an easy drive.

“Nice food but overpriced and poor rooms”

We stayed here for one night with our baby In August - they were very accommodating with a travel cot etc. The hotel is in pretty grounds, with a nice pool, but the rooms themselves are very old-fashioned and need updating. The restaurant was good, we sat on a covered terrace for dinner and it was very romantic. Similar to some other reviews my main problem is the cost - the room itself was overpriced in terms of value (c. €100). The menu in the restaurant was ok, but the incidentals were ridiculous - €10 for a coffee and tea after dinner, €6 for a bottle of water. With breakfast the next day (that was late in our room as they didn't read the note properly requesting this) we ended up spending €240 for a one night stay, and I really can't say it was worth it. Service was ok, but I have stayed in nicer hotels in France with much more atmosphere, and it was definitely a little pretentious.

“Do Not Go To This Hotel”

I am an avid fan of France and have had the pleasure of meeting Richard Binns who was renowned for his knowledge of all that is good about French hotels ad restaurants. Unfortunately, I had the mistaken belief of reading a review regarding Chateau Hotel De La Rapee which led me to believe I was going to a magnificent, quiet hotel in the Normandy countryside. The attitutude of both the owner and staff beggars belief. My hotel bill came to 600 Euros for 2 nights. Everything about this hotel is pretentious and not worthy of a review of note. We stayed here for two nights, There was a party being held above our room which was both noisy and went on till 4am the next morning. The towels in the bathroom were dirty. I complained next day, but as greeted with a shrug of the shoulders by a member of staff. I speak reasonable French and explained to the owner my disappointment with his Hotel, but to no avail. THIS HOTEL SHOULD NOT BE IN THE LOGIS DE FRANCE GUIDE.

“Very accomodating - Good Food”

We spent one night at the Chateau (that is not really a Chateau, but a mansion), while looking for a relaxing weekend in the countryside, playing golf and a short drive away from Paris. Since we were travelling with our 9 months old baby we needed a hotel that has a good restaurant onsite, not too far away from the rooms, in order to be able to use the baby phone. It was the first time we have done this and we were thrilled to find out that we were easily able to let the baby sleep upstairs, while we enjoyed a fantastic dinner downstairs. We took the slightly bigger room for 120Euros, since it had a separate room where we put the baby. We brought our own baby travel bed, but the separate room had two extra single beds. The furnishings were standard, pretty basic, maybe a bit old and nothing luxurious, but we did not expect more anyway for a 3star hotel in France. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere surrounded by horse meadows, which I found very romantic. Since we had the first tee time, we missed breakfast that started at 8am, but we were given a basic breakfast tray the night before. After spending a great morning on the beautiful golf course Golf de Rebetz, we asked if we could check out later and have lunch while our baby napped upstairs. The hotel was very accommodating and we were able to check out 2 hours later, thank you!

“What a rip-off!!”

Our stay in Chateau de la Rapee has prompted me to write my "first ever" review in Trip Advisor. Due to a number of problems - getting lost being one--we arrived at C de La R at about 7 p.m. and got the last available room in the Chateau for 115 euros. We opted for the all-inclusive - room, dinner and breakfast for 208 euros. Our room was large but had seen better days. For instance, the separate toilet had brown industrial carpet on the walls instead of wallpaper, the bidet barely worked and the very dim light was burnt out. The bathroom had a tub and only a hand-held shower. The massive bathroom window that faced the front courtyard had no curtain. The beds were well past their "best by" date and were the most uncomfortable beds we slept in during our entire trip. Dinner was nice but the wine list was very expensive. After our meal, the waiter brought us a sheet of paper with breakfast items on it -- we were to choose our breakfast so I marked that we would have orange juice, cereal, cheese and eggs. At all our other hotels in France breakfast was very comprehensive so, stupidly, we assumed the same as no additional prices were noted on the list. Imagine our surprise when we went to check out and had to pay an additional 17 euros for breakfast!
Oh, did I mention that there was a party right under our bedroom that went on until about 12:30 p.m.
This hotel was marked as a three star in the guidebooks but the two star hotels we stayed at were better! The grounds looked nice but it was very hard to appreciate them after a expensive bad night's sleep. This stay was suppose to be a 'treat' but ended up being the worst night of the trip.

  • Liked — I did not like it.
  • Disliked — The calibre of the accommodation, the noise, and feeling ripped off.
