We wanted a base from which my wife and I could visit some of the Chateaux of the Loire with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law up from SA on their first ever trip to France. What a great decision it was to use Chateau des Ormeaux (CdO) as our base!!! Easily accessible by hire car from Hertz at Tours / St Pierre des Corps TGV station (Paris 1 hour) and literally 10 minutes from Amboise on the Loire, CdO has great charm as a restored chateau set in wonderfully quiet wooded grounds. Eric and Emmanuel were wonderful hosts whose local knowledge and recommendations for chateaux to visit, restaurants to dine at (Chateau de Noizay - excellent!!!) and local information ensured that we were able to make the very best use of our short time there.
Staying at Chateau des Ormeaux is a fabulous experience - old fashioned french charm with modern comforts. It really doesn't get much better

I was just sending this recommendation to some friends and realized that I had never taken time to review this B&B. Four of us booked this last minute in 2011 and it was one of the surprises of our trip to France. The place is tranquil countryside filled with history and charm. The rooms were upscale cottage with private entrances, clean and very spacious. The owners were oozing charm and delighted is with relaxed warmth and and a wonderful gourmet dinner that included a house full of guests and an evening of spontaneity, laughter and relaxation. A place like this is all the more reason for my wish to return to France - it is never enough. They make wonderful jam !!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Chateau des Ormeaux. The rooms are beautiful, the bathrooms are very modern, the breakfasts were delicious and are hosts were very warm and welcoming. This was a great home base for our family of 4 (2 children ages 8 & 10) to explore the beautiful chateaus in the Loire - thank you!!!

We spent three fantastic days using the Chateau des Ormeaux Amboise as our base. We hired a car from Tours and from the moment we hit the open road we knew we were in for a treat. Wonderful weather, and beautiful scenic drives to all the various Chateaux in the region. Accommodation was perfect for me as a single parent with two teenage kids, who thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Chateax. Our hosts, all very friendly and interested in our travels, were very kind and always greeted us with smiles and were able to answer all of our queries. We were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the pool, and the garden/forests, and staying within the turret and climbing the circular staircase was a treat. Speaking of treats - the fabulous breakfast provided each morning filled us perfectly for the day's adventures. Certainly recommending this place to my fellow Australian travellers.
