“Excellent base for ski holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

My husband and I stayed here from 15th Jan for a week. Booked through Thomas cook, half board. We arrived at 0130 after long airport delays and were pleased to find the hotel had left 2 plates of food (rolls and meat/cheese/salad) and bottled water in our room.
The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the slopes. They have ski lockers in the basement but we paid 20euros each for a heated locker at the side of the slope. Best money I ever spent. Boots were warm when we put them on in the morning. And dry inside. Bliss. Also you got a free drink at Paddys bar each day by showing your locker card.

The room we were in faced the side and was a but noisy because of the bars near by. But that's not the fault of the hotel. The furnishings were basic but very nice and the bathroom was a very good standard. Body wash in dispenser on wall. Shampoo etc in satchets . Even aftersun supplied! Beds were comfy and there was extra pillows in the top of the wardrobe. Safe cost 6 euros for the week and is operated by your room card.

There is free wifi all over the hotel. I think maybe a different router for each floor. But the signal was good enough to FaceTime in our room. The room was very hot though and we opened the window a lot. TV worked well but only news channels in English.

All the public areas were well maintained but with smoking permitted in the bar, we found that off putting.

The food is what you would expect for a half board hotel in a foreign country. It's local cuisine. Plenty of choice and for the unadventurous there were lots of "normal" things to choose. Couldn't fault it.

The jacuzzi, steam room and sauna were clean and perfect after a hard day. There are showers up there too, but take your own towel as its 1 euro to rent one. And flip flops so you don't slip! The lady did pop in and out constantly to try and keep the floor dry as much as possible though.

The staff were all very friendly and attentive and spoke good English.

Pas De La Casa is not really a beginners resort, but great for intermediates and advanced. We did the ski school and our techniques certainly improved.

We've loved it here and will be sad to go home tomorrow.

“Muy malo / Really bad”

English:
Not a 4 * hotel.
The decor of the hotel disappointed upon arrival, entering the room is seen to be very basic, the beds are really uncomfortable. The buffet food is really bad, some days you do not know what to choose, nor for adults or children. They charge drinks (which was not indicated when I reserve my half board)
The rooms are noisy both because you can hear everything from other rooms and because the windows allow all the noises of the street.
The ski storage space is also not care and nothing is quite depressing.
There is only one elevator and at key times you have to wait a lot.
The only advantage that the hotel is the proximity to the sky area.
In short, fail disappointing.
Certainly not back.

“What a magic hotel!”

Check-in:was very speedy, man on desk was lovely. We arrived at 12pm and were tired from having travelled all day. When we got to our room we were delighted to see the hotel had left us a plate of covered food; salami, chorizo, rolls, salad and a bottle of water each. It was a lovely surprise.

Food: although the presentation and selection was very good, at times the food was luke warm when it should have been hot-having said that the food was always of very good quality. the restaurant was casual and comfortable. Staff in restaurant were very friendly and attentive. Food was tasty and there was always something there that we both liked.

Room: I was a little disappointed with the room, it was quiet small and basic-for a 4 star hotel. However, it had everything we needed and was warm. it was perfect as a base for skiing. the tv had lots of channels but only BBC and sky news in English. the standard of cleanliness in room was fantastic & the room was cleaned every day.

Facilities: good-couldn't figure out how to work steam room which was a pity. Jacuzzi was lovely, with good views out the window.

Staff: excellent-can not be faulted.

Location: was handy for the slopes-takes roughly 5mins to walk to ski lifts, and you also pass by the lively Paddy's Bar which is great for a nice aprés-ski drink (or two).

Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to a friend and I would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front of the hotel are noisier-due to snow plough clearing the roads (first thing in th...

“Close to slopes, overpriced at halfterm!”

Just having returned from a week at the Magic I can say that it's an OK hotel. Really friendly and plesent staff. Just the same old issue I have with half term holidays, very expensive for what it is. I'd be loads happier pay 1k less in a fortnight. That would be good value then, thanks Thomas Cook!

“Good base for skiing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

We were moved to te Magic as there was a problem with our room which we booked at the Alaska. No details were given.
On initially seeing the room we were a little disappointed. Due to brown colour scheme everything looked small and dingy. It was also very hot. With temp turned down curtains and window open all brightened up. We were on 6th floor overlooking front.
As a sweetener for being moved we were given free breakfast during our stay. This was 100% better than my planned cornflakes. Breakfasts are fab.
The bar area is good and gets busy. Unfortunately Andorra hasn't yet complied with the no smoking ban so got a little smokey. In fact all places/bars did so can't really blame the magic but they could start the trend.
Only short walk down the hill to the slopes. No problem for me but as I board and have slippers for boots but arduous for those with ski boots. I always left through the rear door on level 5. Don't wait for the front lift. Use the back lift. I don't think anyone knows about it.
Gym is basic but after a day on piste who wants to go and workout. If you do there are only cv machines. 2 bikes, tread mill and cross trainer. Sauna and steam room are small but adequate and jacuzzi small but we found no problem getting in.
The bath room in our room was good. Shower powerful and hot.
The staff are very keen and friendly. I didn't do any of the advertised trips but on listening to people when in bar they seemed successful.
My only complaint was the road clearing people outside. We had a huge snow storm and they were still up and down the street at 12.30 am. What's worse they started at 5.30am. Why oh why do they need their reversing alarm on at 5am. It's serious hardware they're using too.
I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel.
I can't tell you about parking as I left my car at the Alaska.
Thank you magic for pleasant stay.
