“Great Skiing and Apres Ski - shocking hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

Pas de la Casa is a great resort, when you get there! 4 hour transfer from Barcelona.

The skiing and nightlife is fantastic, happy hours all over the show so you drink and eat relatively cheaply.

Now the hotel - not a bad location, certainly not ski to door, unless you can ski uphill! 5 mins to the ski-lift. Ski shop and storage on site - so not bad. Although, the room was shocking 5 25 years olds in a cupboard, tiny bunk-beds and a miserable bathroom.

But, the hotel did have a nice bar, that again had a happy hour.

My advice would be, stay here if you are on a tight budget, there is better accommodation elsewhere.

“Cheap - but save a little harder and stay elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2010

Stayed here for a week, and can generally sympathise with other reviewers sentiments. To start with the negative - 150 euro cash deposit per apartment, to be paid in full on arrival. Apparently, they'll accept either sterling or euro, but they will NOT accept credit card, as virtually every other hotel in the world does. The 150 euros I gave as a deposit, I received on checking out at 3am - not a lot of use to me at that point, really. A tasteless touch is the room being checked over walkie-talkie, right in front of you.

Prices for breakages include 350 euro for the decade-old 12inch TV, and 380 euro for the (broken on arrival) fridge in room - can guarantee they'll accept credit cards for payment of this! Cigarette butts and bottles littered the balcony; management informed, action promised, none taken.

Incredibly enough, on top of the 150 euro deposit, a 5 euro deposit is charged for receiving a padlock to lock your board. 3 minutes with a screw driver and almost anybody could have your board away, with the system they use for locking.

Rooms aren't cleaned by hotel staff; instead, you receive the room in the condition the previous tenants left it - the inference here, then, is that you clean your own room prior to departure. A mop is included for this purpose, as are cloths and sponges, together with cleaning fluid. Two or three loo rolls are included; you've to buy more should you require them, and your rubbish is left to you to dispose of.

Long walk uphill through town - your luggage is taken on ahead of you, but you're left at the bus park at the bottom of town.

The positives? A really friendly bar man, who genuinely went out of his way to help - despite the conditions he was working in. Great location for riding - 150m from lifts, 20m from a cheap laundry place, slightly further out of town, but still a 5 minute walk, give or take. Oh, and it's cheap. But I'd really consider saving extra; even the reps were gutted we were staying there.

“So-so... and im not picky!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2009

Ok so im seriously not one to be picky. This hotel was very cheap so granted i wasnt expecting the Ritz. Im not one thats gonna put photos of mould in the corner of the room and ripped bed sheets... it wasnt THAT bad. The noise was terrible as everybody seemed to ignore the keep your ski equipment in your lockers rule. This was at every time in the day and night.. i was lucky im a good sleeper however my boyfriend isnt and often had trouble sleeping. I wouldnt say the hotel staff are the friendliest bunch of people, but the Airtours rep Dee (scottish lass) was brilliant and very helpful. I think the hotel was in a good position however as someone has pointed out before: when you have been traveling for nearly 12 hours straight, the last thing you want is to get dumped by your coach and told you have to walk to your hotel, quite far away, uphill and in the freezin cold. We were told buses couldnt get upto where we were stayin but that isnt true as i saw a few buses up there. Plus whats wrong with giving us a short mini bus ride up there with our luggage?
Another thing that peed me right off was the 100 euro per person deposit we had to give when we got there. Now i wasnt told about this and i had only brought 270 euros spending money with me anyway. I basically had to struggle and we had to visit the bank twice with my boyfriends card because we kept running out of money (Pas de la casa is VERY expensive). Its a good job there was a bank or we would of probably been beggin for food as they didnt give us our deposit back till 6am that morning when we flying... some use that was to us now! We also had to mop our own room, make our own beds and take our rubbish out in order for us to get our deposit back- stupid!! I go to hotels to get away from all the household chores!!
Thats it really. I have to say if i cheap deal came up for next year i would prob stay there again if i had to but i wouldnt take a little more money!

“Great Place (don't panic)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2008

This place was great, I would ignore the really negative reviews you see.
If you are looking for a good time, decent bar, fit barmaid (when I was there) the rooms are good, plenty of hot water and radiators to dry your socks on!
its a small 2 minute walk to the slope and its really not too far to the town centre. however it feels longer if you have to walk from the lifts at the resort centre at the end of the day.
It's best to leave the snow at the top of the row of bars and then its a short walk.
have a great time.

“very pleasantly surprised!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2008

person found this review helpful

ok so after reading some reviews i was pretty much dreading my stay and almost attempted switching hotels, but i went and i was very pleasantly surprised, staff were very helpful, both in the hotel and the ski shop in the hotel, most of us took our own equipment but my friend rented. she swapped her boot 3 times and they couldnt do enough for you. the guy in the ski shop even hooked her up with discount lessons off his mate... ok so we were the party crowd that came home drunk at 5 am most nights.. and the receptionist was good as gold and was always up for a laugh. rooms were very clean. when we arrived t was around 2 am and the girl in the bar stayed open a bit longer for us. only thing i will say is its a very echoey hotel as its all tiles etc. expect to hear ski boots on the tiles in the mornings, and even though we were the rowdy party crowd, the one night, and one night only mind you hehe, we stayed in and had no problems with loud party apartments etc. towels were changed mid week and the one day we did have a bit of a problem with the lock on our door. it would lock but it was loose and they sent someone up immediately. all in all i was very pleasantly surprised by what i found. and would recommend to groups of friends not so much the older crowd but our group was aged 17- 28 and its cheap, and clean. great when your on a students budget and i would stay there again. infact im booked for next february. SEE YOU THERE GUYS =)

  • Liked — cheap and cheerful, helpful, close to slopes!
