We stumbled across this place months before we begun our 7 month backpacking journey, and decided all the way from Australia this would be our treat for ourselves!

It was a little over our "backpacker" budget but was worth every dollar - this Hotel is truly magical! The owners have put so much time and effort into every detail and you feel like you are in your own little jungle escape away from the world.

The view from our room was spectacular and Lake Atitlan sure provides a breathtaking scene to wake up to every day!

The room was a good size, but our rooftop terrace was the best bit and we sat up there for hours reading, meditating and relaxing.

I would also thoroughly recommend the hotel massage - Stephanie! Quite honestly one of the best massages I have ever had!

Wished we could have stayed longer - wished we could have never left!

My new husband and I planned a trekkers honeymoon to Guatemala, complete with a three-day hike to Lago de Atitlan via Quetzaltrekkers in Xela. Desiring of a quiet night for the two of us, we took a peek at the rooms Aaculaax had to offer. We took the Pescado room... comfy bed, clean sheets, shower built into the side of the mountain, large pane-glass window overlooking the lake... It was an amazing and peaceful place to stay with lots of attention to detail and cute touches added into the walls and windows and light fixtures. The added bonus that sold the room for us and really made it feel like our honeymoon was the private terrace one floor up. Comfortable sofa and coffee table, another set of chairs next to a stone tabletop, a fireplace, and sink... all open to the beautiful view of the garden below and the lake beyond. We were done trekking for a day! We ordered breakfast in our room and spent a fantastic evening enjoying the views and each other. It was the perfect place for our honeymoon!

We had a wonderful time at this hotel, very relaxing and laid back. Lily and Niels are great help with any questions. The rooms are special, all very comfortable and Artsy with lovely stained glass windows and creative architecture. Breakfast included was good, coffee excellent. Went with their recommendations for dinner out and had great meals.

The PA system that blared for awhile was a little annoying. Wanted to kayak, but the business was closed when we were there.

We had a terrific massage, highly recommend.

We stayed 2 nights at Aaculaax in Sienna room & loved it.

The room was lovely with a great view over the lake, bed was soooooo comfortable & bathroom built into the rocks.

Breakfast was delicious & we loved the terrace area for having a drink in the afternoon.

Very friendly & helpful staff & organised a shuttle for us back to Guatemala City for our flight as none of the scheduled ones left early enough.
