We were staying for 2 nights at Posada Schumann in San Marcos La Laguna. We really liked the location and lakeview. The cabana was also nice. But the service is awful. The first day we got the "continental" breakfast (toast, marmelade and butter) but when we came for breakfast they told us that the kitchen is closed since there was one event in nearby village. The guy told us that he will give us discount but when we actually left the posada he said that the owner went to lunch and that he can not give us money.
It is not a big thing but it definetely shows their attitude. I would not recommend the place. Ok, the position is nice but there are much friendlier hotels in the village.

I absolutely loved this hotel.... which is considered the best of San Marcos La Laguna... It's strategically located in front of the lake... it has temazcal (mayan sauna) and kayak service included in the hotel rate. The food is good and the enviroment is peaceful and charming.

It's perfect to go there with your special one, but it's also a great place to go by yourself or to enjoy with the family.

I highly recommend it...

Bungalow #2 & #1 are where you want to be ... by the lake, in front of the restaurant (w/ good privacy and separation from the restaurant) .. have great lake views, plus have sweet little front yards ... very sweet, charming places to stay. #8 can sleep many, has places outside to sit and see lake through trees though not the best lake views ... none of the views are comparable to the spectacular views from Casa Del Mundo (which has to be THE best place to stay). We did pay with credit cards and found the staff to be super nice, and helpful ... letting us leave our luggage while we explored other villages. The stove in the kitchen was without propane, and we chose not to pay to use .... ate at restaurants. The restaurant at Posada Schumann closed early in the evening, and was not open until mid morning .... nice little spot up the path that did have coffee at 8a.m. .... then, we ate breakfast at Posada Schumann (a continental breakfast is free ... or, if you choose a larger breakfast they deduct the cost of the continental breakfast so you only pay the difference ... very delicious breakfast). I would recommend (if reservations are not available at Casa Del Mundo or Arca de Noe) and if Bungalow 1 or 2 is available.

I went to a trip with my friends, we were hotel hoping until we found the Posada. The staff was great, the food delicious and the room (the lake view room) was gorgeos. We had so much fun we ended up staying three more nights. It was the only hotel with water activities such as kayaking and the only one with a dock were we could lay down and have some sun bathing. Very private, romantic and fun!! I definetly recomend the Posada Schumann for a pleasant vacation!
