I stayed at the Holiday Inn Yuma for one night with my boyfriend in March 2010, as part of a longer fly drive holiday. We stayed at this hotel to break up the trip from San Diego to Phoenix.
Location - The only negative about this hotel is that it although it's just off the freeway, it was incredibly difficult to find! Our sat nav didn't recognise it as it's on a new development, and we had problems with google maps directions as well. We eventually found it by setting our sat nav to search for Pacific Avenue rather than E 18th St. Yuma isn't the most happening of places, and we didn't leave the hotel (we didn't need to!).
Room - The room was fantastic, truly 5-star standard! It was incredibly spacious with a huge bed and a sparklingly clean bathroom. There was a choice of both soft or firm pillows which was nice, and there was a microwave and a fridge.
Facilities - I didn't expect it to be warm enough to use the outdoor pool, but now I'm so glad we arrived early and I had a relaxing few hours sunbathing (though I didn't try the pool itself!). We really liked the hotel bar and restaurant, and thought the food was actually very good value, especially considering they could easily get away with charging more as options outside the hotel are limited.
Staff - The service was impeccable throughout our stay, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. I had previously joined the Hilton Honours club (free to join online!), and a bag of warm cookies were waiting for me when I checked in! The waitress in the bar/restaurant area was also really nice and helpful.
I don't have a bad thing to say about this hotel, we weren't expecting much from a one night stopover in a Holiday Inn but were more than pleasantly surprised. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Yuma, whether for business or leisure.
