“Pretty good overall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

I would have to say that my prior experiences with Super 8 hotels (over 8 years ago) left me weary of trying one again. However, I didn't pick the hotel this time and it was only a 1 night stay, with good TripAdvisor reviews on a Holiday, so it was worth a try.

I was very surprised, it was a great hotel. The room was spacious, and the non-smoking room was really non-smoking (not like Motel 6 where its hit or miss). The rooms were accessible by interior doorway, which is a good safety measure and the room was very spacious. The sink for the bathroom was outside in the room (as opposed to within the bathroom) which made it great, since we had 4 people in the room. We also received 2 Queen beds and not two fulls as you get at Motel 6. The room and bathroom were clean. The room comes with a microwave and fridge and free wifi, which was good but sometimes cut out. Shampoo, conditioner and soap was provided.

The room price included a continental breakfast of coffee, juice, hard boiled eggs, mini-yogurts, biscuits and gravy, cereal, milk, bagels, toast, instant oatmeal, whole fruit, donuts and make your own waffles. It was okay, but after we ate we were still hungry an hour later (as is usually the case with these carb-filled breakfasts). The staff was friendly and helpful and check-in was quick and easy.

The hotel is easy to spot from the freeway, but not a scenic area--its adjacent to an IHOP and a gas station. There is a McDonalds nearby and also on the same street a large outdoor mall that has an In-N-Out and a Panda Express. Overall a great location for a traveler that needs a one day travel stop. I would be happy to visit this hotel again if I am in the same area.

Only complaint I have is that one of the pillows was a bit flat and that the heating system could only turn on (it couldn't automatically self regulate at a set temperature). But, it did work well and was good white-noise as the person next door had their TV on all night. The walls were a bit thin.

“Good enough for the price...”

We needed a pet friendly motel in Yuma for a quick fact finding trip - 2 nights. Booked this through AARP and saved even more than TA rate. Room was spacious (king with frig and microwave) and conveniently located down the hall from breakfast in AM (included in rate). Breakfast was better than usual moderate hotel fare with waffle maker, juices, fruits, pastries and cereals, etc. 24 hour coffee also. Pleasant staff. Rooms definitely could use refurbishing but our room was clean and comfortable, but not without blemishes on furniture, walls, etc. For a short stay allowing us to bring our pets and only charge around $50/night, it was fine. However, during out stay the pool and hot tib were out of service due to maintenance and it was clear the water had to be shocked just before we arrived. We would have liked to use both, but managed to go without while we took in as much of Yuma as possible in 2 days.

Room Tip: We requested a very clean room because of personal health issues about dust and mold. We did this at...

“More poor than average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

It really is just a place to crash for about $50. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was o.k. enough. But there are things that could easily be better: some of the blinds in the lobby and hallway windows are in bad shape, the ice machine on the 3rd floor was broken, something with the pool or hot tub was out of order, they offered to use the one next door, but we did not care.
The box spring in our room had been repaired with duct tape, the sheets were really thin and the pillows were just lumps. The screen of the air conditioner was missing and the unit seemed to be puling out of the wall. The easy chair and desk chair were worn/stained. The little fridge was ancient. The room was large, the bathroom was clean, the shower was good, the towels were decent.
There were a couple of semi trucks parked outside that started up way too early for us.
On our next trip through Yuma we definitely will not stay here again and rather pay more

“Really great Super 8”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

When we travel at home, mostly around AZ, CA or maybe up to best friends in OR, we always try to stay at the local Super 8. The Super 8 Yuma was - as they're wonbt to be - easy to find right off the major thoroughfare. It's quite a large Super 8, and the room was perfectly clean, and spacious as usual. The breakfast area was quite large, more like an open dining room off the lobby, and the choice of breakfast food was varied and good. The wi-fi in the room worked perfectly and all the satff members we encountered were extremely polite, friendly and helpful. If and when we get back to Yuma we'll definitely stay there again.

“Right off the freeway and easy to find.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2011

Not a bad place at all. The high speed internet worked great, it was close to lots of restaurants. Friendly, accommodating staff. Inside access, a plus for "budget" motels.
