Other than the noise located along the highway and the railway, this was a nice spot. The sinks are still in the bathrooms so a family would have trouble cleaning up and using the toilet because of the wait. Not much room to walk the dog out of the heat of day, but the staff is soooo kind and accommodating that it more than makes up for a few inconveniences. I mean, really, what do you expect for you and a pet at $39?? (And on a Friday) All the other places around there were $60 or higher plus they added the "pet-friendly" charge of $20-$25. Yes, the pool is not olympic in size, but it was wet and fun. I think the rates are higher during the winter season so double check. Regardless, the other area accommodations will be way out of sight when it comes to cost.
Ask the employees about the little bar across the street. It is a great place with bartenders that still have time to visit, talk, and tease even though the place was packed. Ask any of the locals where to eat or enjoy a fish fry and they will let you know where the deals are.
As with all motels that are inexpensive, they have their off days. So, do not be afraid to ask for a change of room or help if a room is less than satisfactory. I have never had reason to not keep going to Motel 6, especially with a little dog.
