We visited this Howard Johnson because of an ad written up in a local publication. When we arrived they refused to offer this rate to us saying it was for limited rooms. We met another couple in the lobby who had the same experience with an ad they found in another publication. When we pressed the clerk about the ad they told us that they had not rented out any rooms under the advertised prices and then told us that they were exercising their right of first refusal and asked us to leave. This hotel uses bad business practices and is managed poorly. I recommend going somewhere else.

Great location for the Polar Express and overall good, but we asked for non smoking, which we got, but we were surrounded by smoking rooms.

We reserved 2 rooms at the Howard Johnson Express in Williams AZ as part of our trip to the Grand Canyon. We arrived at the hotel after driving from Las Vegas. The check-in clerk had not realized that our two rooms were travelling together, and on the spot, did her level best to get us as near to each other as possible, even though one was a smoking room and the other one wasn't. I really appreciated her initiative (I didn't even ask for it!) and it made the stay that much more pleasant for me.
The rooms themselves were extremely clean. I felt perfectly comfortable in our room and my travelling companion felt comfortable in hers as well.
The complimentary breakfast the next morning was fine, with do-it-yourself waffles. The breakfast room was pretty small, only 4 or 5 tables, and those were all being used, so I took my cereal back to my room to eat it.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property.

Arrived Friday evening for a weekend stay. Room was ready, hallways had brand new carpet, and perhaps new paint as well.
Room was clean, and quiet. Although we are a short walk from the rail line, we heard no noise.
Bed was the typical hard mattress, but arent they all?
Only disappointment, and it was minor, was the pool and spa was out of order, I think it too is being refurbed, so future visitors should be pleased.
