“Polar Express”

Hotel was easy to find (Williams is a small town) and centrally located. Check in was slow as there were hoards of families in the lobby. Check-in staff very friendly and helpful. Room was large enough and comfortable for two adults. Heat in room worked well. The low temps in Dec. were in the teens. Shower diverter barely worked. Most of the water went into tub via spout, not up to shower. Staff seemed geniunely concerned about fixing it. Dinner at Grand Depot Cafe was mediocre, but breakfast was excellent. All in all a very nice overnight for the adults and kids. Parking lot too small.

“Too much clutter”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

We stayed here this week . Rooms are very small. No TVs. Trying to go with a historic theme I guess, there is stuff everywhere in the rooms. No surface is clear to put your things! Far too much clutter!!
No nightstands or bedside lamps , With a bit of thought they could put lights on the wall and shelves by the beds as space is limited. Beds small.
No AC or central heating . Fan and plug in heater. Its all very well staying in a historic building but its possible to do that and have the basic expectations of the 21st century.

“Excellent service, quaint rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

Loved our stay here. Very courteous and timely service. The room we got (the Romantic I think it was called) was historically decorated, which fit well with the ambiance of the town. The hotel itself is nicely located, right on main street. Our room was quiet and was fitted with a clawfoot bathtub. Downstairs they allow guests to use the living room which has a microwave and hot water (and coffee in the morning). There's also a TV and some games. Overall very pleased with our stay and would recommend this hotel. Oh, and check out the Thai restaurant around the corner - the soup was delicious!

Room Tip: Some have AC others just a fan. Some have showers and others a tub.

“Very warm and friendly hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Absolutely a great litlle quaint hotel in Williams, AZ. The staff was all wonderful, friendly and willing to share information to make our stay at the Grand Canyon a memorable one. Scott Woods, concierge, was full of knowledge, ideas and activities for our family and made many recommendations of things to do and see during our trip. John, our server in the restaurant took great care of us. Eva, our housekeeper was awesome! We loved the large fireplace in the lobby and enjoyed playing games with the family in the restored lobby. I'd highly recommend the Grand Hotel to anyone visiting the Grand Canyon.

Room Tip: Rooms with a patio are great to enjoy the fresh crisp air.

“This is Different!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

From the moment we came in to the hotel and were handed a list of free rooms ,told to 'have a look and select your rooms' we knew we had a new experience ahead. The hotel itself has been renovated to a point near it's beginnings, possibly still someway to go . The rooms were 'themed' on the slightly bizzare side(we chose the giraffe? room, son and girlfriend the 'romantic' room and daughter the nautical room - sailor suit on the wall!).There was a backpackers - type feel to the 'help yourself to coffee, drinks and internet' lounge.Sadly the Thai restaurant wasn't open as it was Sunday but an excellent meal in the next door Ravens Restaurant more than made up for that.In all a fun place to stay in a small town that has certainly embraced it's route 66 past.

Room Tip: If travelling at a busy time of year probably best to book online and ask for particular room availa...
