The shower in room 17 is set up for someone that is four feet tall and the water also sprays everywhere. If you point it down, the shower continues to spray upwards in your face. I understand that this is only a minor thing, but after a day of hiking through the Grand Canyon, it is nice to have a relaxing shower without having water shot up your nostrils. I attempted to contact the owner and let him know about this problem, but he simply told me that I got a good deal and that he would have to end the phone call. Other than this, the room was a little dusty most likely because it had not been used in a while. Also, the price that I was quoted and charged on the phone was bumped up a bit after arrival. This was nothing to make me leave the hotel, but it was simply annoying that the owner wanted to squeeze an extra few dollars out of me once I was there. I also brought this up on the phone, and he told me how room rates change each day. However, he seemed to forget that he told me one price and charged me another. All in all, I paid a good price for the room, but I think that one of the chains hotels, about five of them within one minute walking distance, would have better amenities like a proper shower and honest sales practices. There is probably a ten to twenty dollar difference. I may be wrong. I like to help the local guy out too by renting a room in his hotel, but a certain level of quality and service need to be there, regardless of price. Also, do not get gas from the last gas station heading out of town to the east. I attempted to fill my car up with gas, and the pump would not stop pumping. I got gas all over my car and on my shoes. The attendant told me that sometimes that seems to happen, and that the pumps are "hit and miss". I was appalled by his lack of empathy. My shoes were ruined, and I had to pay for every drop of gas that spewed on the ground uncontrollably. Things are a bit different where I live.
