We spent one night in a king "suite" at the Motel 6 Williams East, on a cross country drive where we were able to compare this Motel 6 with many others. This facility is one of the better ones, having a terrific location and being very clean.
Motel 6 Williams East is located at the end of Williams' Historic Route 66 area, a more attractive, better preserved historic Route 66 district than others we've seen. It is across the street from a Safeway, having a Starbucks inside, so you can easily get real coffee in the morning instead of the free dishwater that Motel 6s offer and restock your ice chest with supplies without going on a snipe hunt. Further, many quaint restaurants, including one that serves breakfast across the street, are located within walking distance. Williams is around 50 miles away from the Grand Canyon, a pleasant drive, and two miles off of I-40.
However, our stay was not without a hitch. The motel's computer reservation system was having problems and, having a confirmed reservation through the internet, I was surprised that they didn't have my reserved room available. The remedy was to upgrade us to a suite without an extra charge so, for us, it came out ok. However, I'd hate to think what our plight would have been if they truly had nothing available at all.
I'd stay here again, accepting Motel 6s for what they are, and recommend it to others.
