“Excellent choice for travelers visiting Grand Canyon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

I just returned from Arizona having stayed two nights pre and post Train trip to Grand Canyon.
Hotel was very clean and service was excellent. Large rooms, clean bathrooms, and coffee maker and staff was very attentive asking at check in if we needed extra towels, or coffee. Bath amenities were provided in shower and free internet. Large lobby/lounge area with lg fireplace. Nice bar and restaurant and a buffet restaurant across the way by the train depot. Very nicely done and discount was offered for AAA members staying an extra night. I would also recommend Pancho Mcgillicuddy;s restaurant just a block away from hotel. Some of the best Mexican food I've had in Arizona. Wide range of choices available and full bar.
Was so good, when back the second night.

Room Tip: Ask for second floor, all rooms have views of Mountains. Very quiet. All rooms have two queen beds...

“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

We spent 2 nights at the hotel. We didn't take the train but drove to the Grand Canyon. We enjoyed the nice, clean accommodations. The hotel was quiet and relaxing.

“Excellent Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

I'm late in reviewing this hotel but must tell you what a great place this is! We did the "Rails to the Rim" pkg through AAA and stayed at this hotel. I was rather nervous about staying here due to few negative reviews, but the minute we walked into the beautiful lobby and got a chance to see our wonderful room, I was put completely at ease. Our stay was the week before Thanksgiving and the hotel was in the process of being decorated for Christmas and the first trip of the "Polar Express". We checked in on Wed night, had a great buffet dinner at the depot restaurant, and took photos with Christmas lights on the lawn between the hotel & restaurant. Staff was always very accomodating. Food was always good & had salad/soup bar available. Next time we'll do a carriage ride which was offered outside by cowboys! Shootout was silly but fun with bleechers to sit on. Took train Thursday morning (stayed overnight at Grand Canyon) and returned Friday night to the first Polar Express group. Funny to see complete families running around in their P.J.'s excitedly getting ready to take the train ride to see Santa! Wanted to join them but tickets were sold out - oh well, now that we know about it, we are planning on returning next year! I highly recommend this hotel!

“Wouldn't rush back”

Did not live up to our expectations. Dated but spacious room with basic bathroom. Poor value for price charged. Didn't care for buffet style restaurant or its location. Some food was cold although good choice available. Slow service.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms on first floor above reception as noisy

“Comfortable and satisfactory”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Arrival at busy holiday time but reception was polite and efficient. Room was comfortable but became cold overnight as the exterior temperature fell. Outside temperature was around freezing and the (noisy) room heating system could only blow the curtain around with little positive effect. Easy walk to Willliams township (on route 66). Eating in hotel is across in another building so we breakfasted in the saloon bar (tea/cofee bagels/muffins) and ate out.
Cost of two night package with train ride to Grand Canyon was reasonable. Room clean, tidy, spacious. I had to adjust toilet valve several times - but not really a problem.
We arrived by hire car - easy to find from the Highway.

Room Tip: We noted lots of children doing Santa trips in pyjamas on the train and asked to be roomed away from...
