“Clean and cheaper alternative to staying in the park”

I booked a room in the hotel which has internal corridors and is newer then the motel section although the prices on the website were exactly the same. Not sure why though. I found the room to be clean, comfortable and spacious. The price was pretty good compared to the other places which is why I picked it. Location wise, its about 10 minutes drive into the park so that was fine. Nearby you have Mcdonalds and Wendys both within walking distance and there is also a general store close by. I would stay again if I can't get a place in the park.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't have a joining room if possible otherwise you can hear the people ne...

“Nice for a few nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stopped here on the way to Grand Canyon South Rim National Park, just outside the park entrance. The receptionist was very kind and helpful, we stayed at the motel area. The room was clean and with a comfortable king size bed.The bathroom was so little but clean. the fridge was super-noisy and the heater too. There was free wifi in the room, but you have to ask for the password at the reception. Good position to stop for visiting the park. A few restaurant are accross the street but they close soon (9 p.m.). We suggest you this little motel if you arrived at Tusayan and you don't know where to sleep.

“Clean and comfortable, great value”

We stayed for one night, and this hotel was perfect for the price. Very clean and functional room. Very nice bath amenities (Bath and Body Words Coconut Lime Verbena soaps/shampoos). They had oranges, apples, and coffee in the lobby, which was very nice as well. Don’t expect a high-end hotel; the furniture and linens are very ‘western style’ patterns which implies that they don’t look particularly modern, but this was a great hotel to stay at, very reasonably priced, and was perfect for what we needed. Not a ton in the area as far as food—we ended up getting a late brunch at the Best Western restaurant next door, which was very good and reasonably priced.

“Reasonable alternative”

Don't be scared away if you can't find accommodations inside Grand Canyon's park boundaries. Red Feather Lodge, just a few minutes south in Tusayan, is a nicely modernized motel with good-sized, clean rooms. It's only a short walk to several conveniences and the IMAX, which is worth the time and expense (with a discount for staying at the Red Feather). We'd definitely go there again.

Room Tip: Stay in the main building, which seems to have better rooms and is quieter.

“Very comfy hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

Red Feather was an excellent choice - we stayed with our group of 13 trekkers. The rooms were spacious, clean and warm. The hotel offered free tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the lobby which were useful on our morning leaving for the sunrise at the Canyon. Ideally located with a 15 min drive up to the Canyon. The little town has a Wendys, Mcdonalds (A little pricey), Trading post (supermarket - to pick up supplies for packed lunches). I also noted it had a Pizza hut and Mexican restaurant which we didnt use in our short time staying there. The hotel had good laundry facilities and a vending machine to access for snack times. In the evening, we went across to the Hotel next door (I think it was the best western) which had a Sports bar, bowling alley in the basement and the food and happy hour drinks were very good value.Brilliant hotel with friendly staff - thoroughly recommend this to anyone going to the Canyon on a budget.
