I visited La Casa del Mundo with my partner in January this year, with my partner who had stayed there twice previously and considers it is one of the best places in the world to stay. It certainly lived up to this expectation--the rooms are individually set in the grounds which are beautifully tended and to wake in the morning to a view from your bed of the lake, ringed by volcanoes as the sun rises is quite spectacular. Is this better than ending the day in the hot tub looking at the stars? Can't decide! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the food very good. Yes it is more expensive than other places we stayed--but certainly worth it--and we decided to stay 2 more nights than planned--a common occurrence I understand
One tip, when coming over in the lancha try to sit in the centre towards the back, particularly in the afternoon when the lake tends to be rough

We made La Casa del Mundo the last stop in our trip to Guatemala, and it was definitely worth it. We had fortunately already visited the towns around Lake Atitlan earlier in our trip and therefore didn't feel compelled to leave the hotel during our 3 night stay. The view is amazing, as the photos indicate and with that alone the trip is worth it.

Breakfast and lunch is served a la carte, whilst dinner is a fixed menu which changes daily. Dinner is served at a communal table - not necessarily my favorite but if you are lucky to encounter the same guests more than one night in a row you can move on from the usual 'where do you come from, where are you going' type of conversation.

We stayed in room 10, a good sized room for two people with a private balcony and fantastic view (as I imagine all rooms have).

My wife and I ended out Central America trip with 4 nights at the Casa del Mundo. The people were amazing and the setting was beautiful. The meals were top notch and we will definitely be going back soon!

The setting, the views, the lovely touches and attention to detail across the whole property make this a place to remember.

The better rooms are a little pricey for Guatemala but are worth every penny. After all it's still cheap compared to home

This is our fourth 3 month winter trip and this place ranks as one of the most special places we've stayed at anywhere in the world.

Apart from the lady on her wedding day, the few other reviewers that have ranked here as anything but excellent should stick to Hiltons & Marriots in future. This is the best.
