I am a tour operator and for 18 years we have offered Arizona as a long stay destination. This year we moved to the Residence Inn, Tempe Az. The hotel is in the final stages of completing a complete makeover. It needed it. The rooms are very tastefully decorated with full kitchens and queen beds. The Studio units are a bit larger than we have seen in other Residence Inns and the Two Bed Two Bath units are large and the full unit is on one floor, unlike the loft units in other Residence Inns. The complex is very large with all buldings having two floors. There are no elevators so make sure you request a lower floor if you can't do stairs. The hotel offers a daily breakfast that if very good with lots of choices. Hot oatmeal, cold cereal, eggs, potatoes, make your own waffles, a meat item, fruit, bagels, breads etc. Monday thru Thurs there is a light supper with wine, beer and sodas offered. Remember it is a light meal and not a full dinner, for most it is plenty and if not there are lots of restaurants close by. There is a small market in the lobby with food items for sale. There is a small laundry available. It was usually busy so I went to the laundrymat located on Priest about two blocks away. Lots of machines, clean, reasonable rates. The staff were very heplful, friendly, informative and interested in what the guests and made you feel welcome. The location couldn't be bettter. Across from the Arizona Mills mall with dozens of shops and restaurants just a short stroll away. A CVS shares the hotel parking lot and it offers a good selection of wine and groceries. There is a large grocery store, one of the biggest electronic stores I've ever seen and several fast food outlets all located within a few blocks. We will be using this hotel from now on. I almost forgot it is a 10 minute drive to one of the local casinos.
