I just returned from a trip to Tempe. I reserved 2 nights at the Ramada Inn on Baseline. What a mistake. I should have taken a tip when I pulled into the driveway and saw the "Gentlemans" club in front of the Ramada. They share a parking lot. This was at 1PM and I hurriedly went to lunch with my relatives, planning on returning later.
So I come back to the motel at midnight, I see men hanging around on the balcony. That did not give me a secure feeling. Once in the motel, the toilet barely flushed, the shower was barely hanging on to the wall. I had room 326. no wi-fi. They didn't even replace the towels I used the first night. So the second night, I had one towel and no washcloths!
I don't believe they have soft water. There are maybe 10 channels on the TV, with no guide.
The next night, which I thought would be my last night in Tempe was worse. I arrive at my room around 9:30 PM. Again men on the balcony. I put in my key/card and the door will not open. I go down 2 flights to the lobby and as my shoulder hit the door I realize it is locked. This is not a good sign.
I told the young woman at the window that my keys didn't work. She gave me 2 new ones. I walked 2 flights; those keys didn't work. I went down stairs and told her I would like a repair person or management to fix this. She gave me a white card and told me to insert it into the lock to clean it and then the key would work.
Only in an emergency would she get help for me. She has to call someone in to help me. I looked at her like she was crazy. This is an emergency. I can't get into my paid for room. My things are locked in side.
Subsequently the white card did not work. I went down again for the 3rd time and told the young woman, you need to get someone down here now. She said someone would be there in a few minutes, go up to my room and wait for him. 10 minutes later, a man arrives. He was waiting at 318 for me. This idiot or passive aggressive clerk gave him the wrong room number.
He said one key was totally not working and he got the other key to work. He was efficient and nice.
The next day, Monday I called the Chamber of Commerce for recommendations for a hotel. They told me the inn next door, /Phoenix airport had good reviews. I said what does the Ramada have? not good she said.
After looking at the beautiful room at the hotel Tempe- the difference is night and day- I stayed there Monday night. Clean, well decorated, new.
I am angry that I paid $67 for a dump when I paid $65 for a room at the hotel next door. See my review to come on the hotel Tempe Phoenix Airport on Baseline.
Room Tip: Go next door the a quality motel.
