“Beat up rooms, insufficient airport shuttle”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

I stay in a lot of Hyatt Places. Usually a consistent, basic product.

At check in, I listened as the driver that had just brought me from the airport complained to the check in agent (3 feet from me) about how little she made in tips on her shift. Classy...

This Hyatt Place is showing it's age. I can see from other reviews that I'm not alone in getting room with beat up furnishings. Mine also had a nice, large stain on the carpet next to the bed.

The bedding and bathroom appeared clean, and that's all I really want.

My biggest issue with this hotel is that the airport shuttle bus does not begin operation until 6am. If you have a flight before 7:30am or so and plan on using the shuttle, DO NOT STAY HERE. The clerk suggested I take a cab ($20) I walked to the hotel next door, gave the driver there $10 and he was glad to take me on the short trip over to the airport.

I emailed Hyatt with my concerns, they put a bunch of points in my account, but I never heard back directly from the hotel. Apparently management is as poor as the hotel's condition.

“Good hotel for the price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 December 2011

Convenient location near the airport, typical conveniences and amenities of the Hyatt Place chain, nice complimentary breakfast. Our room was OK, but looked a little beaten up. The very small bathroom didn't have a bath tub, only had a shower. Overall pretty good value for money though.

“Decent but flawed airport hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Well located airport hotel at an OK price - but the room needs a rehab - stained couch, chipped furniture, dirty water glasses, tiny bathroom stall - requires you to squeeze to the side to close its door, outlets on desk that didn't work, loud a/c (with a flawed thermostat). Internet free and worked fine and bed was comfortable. Continental breakfast adequate. Close to airport and convenient for an early morning flight, but I wouldn't want to stay here for more than one quick overnight stay to catch an early morning flight.

“Really nice hotel, great location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Very clean and classy, great bedding. All rooms are suites, our refrigerator worked well and was very quiet. HUGE TV in room, easily tilted to be viewed in bedroom or the sofa area. Nice and simple breakfast bar, with different hot food choices every day as well as pastries and fresh fruit. During the 4 days we were there we had pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, waffles, oatmeal and biscuits & gravy as hot food options. The hotel is located one block off a major freeway with excellent access. Not a busy area, which was nice, minimal noise. Excellent maid service. We'll definitely stay here again!

“A hotel property you can count on.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

I choose to stay at this hotel everytime I am in the Phoenix area. The location is great for me since I don't like crowded areas. I enjoy using the kiosk for check in. Even though, their friendly staff do wait behind the counter readily available. I've had many great stays here, no problems. During this stay, we had a smell in our room. Not sure where it was coming from as they were in the process of remodeling. We had a room with a balcony and opened the door which helped cleared out the smell we had in our room. I did not attend to this minor problem because I did not have the time. However, I reported it to the manager via email survey in which he apologized for that issue. But like I said, very minor. Our room was clean. Air conditioner worked great since the weather was hot still, about 105 degrees in begining of September. We did not use the pool. On the other hand, their complimentary breakfast was great. I can't believe the variety they had along with their hot buffet. I've stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn & we had to pay $10 per person for a similiar breakfast. Even in New Mexico, the Hyatt Place breakfast is just ok. At this property, it was a plus. If you like to shop, there's an outlet mall, Arizona Mills down the road going south on Priest Drive. You also need to check out Mill Ave near Az State Univ. Get on Rio Saludo Pkwy and head east along the Beach Parks and get onto Ash Ave, make a left on University and another left to cruise down Mill Ave. There's a In'n'Out nearby and a Yogurtland. All in all, I will continue to stay at this property.
