“All's Well at Saddlerock Ranch”

With trepidation I booked a stay at the Saddlerock Ranch in Sedona. The reviews were mixed, but the views and house looked so magnificent I decided to give it a try. In the end, it far exceeded my expectations. The house was incredibly well decorated and comfortable. The garden and grounds exude natural beauty, like a Western version of Monet's Giverny. And the views... WOW!. We also appreciated the privacy of having the house to ourselves and our family rather than sharing the common spaces with strangers, like at a B&B that just rents rooms by the night. Arna gave us fantastic information, and her assistant Terri was efficient and responsive. I'd definitely recommend the Saddlerock Ranch in Sedona for family reunions, wedding parties, retreats and any gathering where you desire privacy and a rustic elegance. No, this is not the type of B&B where you can expect to be greeted with cookies and tea in the afternoon. It's a more natural, home-like atmosphere where you can do your own thing. We experienced none of the new owner's growing pains others reported. We entered an immaculate house, but would not have been freaked out if we had seen a bug or mouse. (We did not.) I'd stay here again without hesitation.

“Awesome... Intriguing... Enchanting... Refreshing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2010

I know the reviews "say" that John Wayne slept here but when I walked in and saw an autographed picture of him on the mantel of one of the many fireplaces, I was not only impressed but intrigue set in. Then a twinge of deja vu hit imagining the cowboy of all time swaggering across the original flagstone floor and ducking to clear the top of the door to a lovely appointed front bedroom!

And, when I say awesome, I'm not just talking about the magnificent views at Saddlerock Ranch - the place is jaw-dropping! I had booked my stay at Saddlerock due to my fortunate fate of having to be in Sedona for a week of business meetings and wanted to sandwich in some personal introspective time. After reading the many positive reviews here on Trip Advisor, it seemed like the perfect spot for my grab-and-go hiatus.

Well, walking in and being greeted by John Wayne was just the beginning of my enchanting experience at Saddlerock Ranch. The place oozes with deep history and exudes charm and warmth. The beauty of the walls made of red rock and adobe not only bring the landscape inside but seem to blanket you with their warmth. From every vista point on the Ranch, the panoramic views are larger than life. I found myself running back and forth to the windows as the light changed on the red rocks, sometimes almost minute by minute.

I can see Saddlerock Ranch as a great place to converge with all of my friends that are scattered in every direction and just have the place totally to ourselves for a grand reunion. I'm in the midst of planning that right now. The appointments in the rooms with refrigerators, microwaves and tv's, as well as high speed internet throughout means that each individual will be able to have as much privacy as they choose while having the group experience just on the other side of the door.

I'm looking forward to sharing this incredible find with my friends as soon as we can decide on a week that works for everyone and booking it. I have a feeling that I'll be returning to Saddlerock Ranch again and again.

“Poor Management”

I decided to book this B&B after reading that it was one of the best places to stay in Sedona and it had one of the best views. I made a reservation in January directly with the owner. It was very difficult to make contact with her either by e-mail or phone. I have since learned that she does not reside on the premises. Much to my surprise, in mid-July she e-mailed and told me that she didn't think I should stay there because she had booked other guests that may make my stay unpleasant. I assured her that we would be fine in the cabin which was separate from the house where the other guests where to be housed. About a week or so later she informed me that she hadn't taken a deposit from my credit card that I had provided for a reservation and that she was providing me with names of other establishments where I could stay. It appears that the owner only wants to rent the entire property, and when she is able to do so, she sends you packing. So, don't waste your time trying to book just one room. This is definately NOT a B&B. It is a property rental only, and it is a shame that the current owner is ruining its long-standing reputation.

“Terrible!”

After making a reservation and talking with the new owner via phone in November, I received a confirming email. Imagine my surprise when I emailed a couple of days ago to confirm how to get into the property that the owner had no idea I was coming. She had a family of five staying the house where I had a confirmed reservation for two of the rooms!!! Just a heads up on how this operation is run. BEWARE!!!

I did everything that I could possible do to find this person a good alternative to Saddlerock including our Honeymoon Suite.

It is standard procedure to make a deposit for the room and there was no deposit made. Therefore, this was not a finalized reservation. I offered her the Honeymoon suite immediately and then found her 2 other rooms at a nce establishment within 36 hours.when she was not happy with that offer .She would not return my phone call.

She sent me threatening e-mails on how she wanted to destroy my business. This is not typical of the type of clients I have run into in the past. I guess every now and then there is a client that vents their frustrations on you,

I have a wonderful place to offer for all types of celebrations and gatherings. I look forward to working with my clients!
