“Home away from home with great food and great views!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2010

My husband and I stayed here for four nights in the Angler's Retreat room. The room had a nice fireplace and balcony with a great view of the red rocks, Oak Creek, and the Tlaquepaque shopping center. The entire place was very clean and cozy. The towels and robes in the hotel were super soft!! We ate breakfast in the dining room every morning where there was always fresh orange juice, coffee, tea, water and granola, as well as the daily newspapers. The breakfasts were healthy and delicious ( I loved the lemon ginger pancakes and the grapefruit with cream) and the large windows allowed us to eat while we enjoyed views of the red rocks and the creek. There is also a large porch to sit out at with a tree coming right through the center of it. The innkeeper, Mike, was very friendly and knowledgable and provided us with some great tips on sights to see, like the Seven Sacred Pools. There were loads of books on Sedona available to read in the sitting area and we were even provided with a complimentary Red Rock Pass for the length of our stay so we could park at all of the hiking trail heads.
The hotel is also in a great location right across the street from one of the best art galleries in the state as well as the Javelina Cantina, a great Mexican restaurant that my husband and I went to twice while we were there (we literally walked right across the street to it). The hotel is also a minute drive from the Tlaquepaque shopping center and 5 minutes from uptown Sedona. We very highly recommend this hotel; we felt very comfortable and well taken care of during our stay and look forward to coming back again to the Inn!

“So Disappointing and Clearly an Owner who isn't Guest Oriented”

So excited to celebrate my B Day at the Inn at Oak Creek and booked the 2nd most expensive room to have the view, large jacuzzi, fireplace and all the romanance we could handle for 4 days! Got the champagne opened, music on, the candles lit and hit the jacuzzi ~ broken!!! Light didn't work in the bathroom ~ light bulbs out! Couldn't close the shutters ~ broken but could clearly see into the other room so kept the clothes on! Moved the furniture to get out of sight and carpets very badly stained with more carpet on top of carpet. Reported all the problems and non of the problems solved. Oh, the light bulb did get fixed on day 3.
The traffic is awful and the quitness of the room was spoiled with the lawn blowers across the way at the condos in the early am on Saturday and the construction crews that started at 6am with the back up bells ringing while they had coffee! I realize the construction isn't their fault and would have been tolerably if the Inn experience hadn't been so bad.
The kitchen crew they claim in their ad ` non existent. I was told you never know from day to day who is cooking. First breakfast was loaded with onions and peppers and told it wasn't too hot ( ? ) Who's kidding? Never had another!
Got an "I'm sorry" on checking out but it hardly hit the soul! Wrote to the owner twice and didn't even receive an apology nor a response. See, the owner truly doesn't care!

“Wonderful, Romantic Inn!!”

My husband and I travelled thru Arizona via motorcycle on our honeymoon. All unscripted, no reservations, simply stopping wherever and whenever we chose. The Inn on Oak Creek was by far one of our favorites! The staff was absolutely wonderful and very accomodating as we were without reservations. In fact, after learning that we were on our honeymoon, the manager recommended dinner at the Cowboy Club, making our reservations for dinner. We enjoyed a wonderful evening in the BunkHouse. Our well appointed room with large bed, fireplace and jacuzzi tub had a balcony with a wonderful view of Oak Creek and the Tlaquepaque Village. There have been references to "highway noise" in other reviews. I can tell you that we did not hear a peep!!! We would most definitely recommend this inn!.

“Best of many Great B and B's this year.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2009

We stayed twice, once for 3 nights on the way to the Canyon and again for 2 nights on the way back to Phoenix. Stayed in 2 different rooms (Red Rooster and Angler) checked out all of them. Husband is a particularly light sleeper. NO problem with noise in the evening in rooms on the creek side which most of them are. Some construction noise during the day but should end soon and we were out looking at all the great sights and shopping during the day. Rooms are lovely and there is great attention to detail. The breakfasts were outstanding....only possible complaint is too much food. Afternoon complimentary snacks were varied and interesting and very good and the social hour provided a nice forum for meeting other guests. The hosts were wonderful--friendly and helpful. Good shopping center and restaurants across the street. Many more 4 or 5 blocks away. Some of the jacuzzi tubs (which are generously sized for 2) look out over the creek. The inn provides some shower gel which can be used for a bubble bath...and it really bubbles.

“Peaceful and pampered”

My husband and I took a trip at the end of March to Sedona. We stayed at the Inn on Oak Creek for three nights. We were a little concerned about the road construction when we first arrived. Yet we were lucky enough to experience a nice, quiet stay. We were the only guests at first, but more arrived on our last evening there. (We stayed Tuesday through Friday, so that wasn't a surprise.) Our room was called the Angler's Retreat and was on the back side of the building overlooking the creek. The king-sized bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless.

Pam and Jim were great hosts. They both gave us some great advice on hiking in the Sedona area. They also gave us a few great ideas for side trips on our day trip to the Grand Canyon. They are both friendly and seem to really enjoy what they do. They will give advice on restaurants and tours also. We did not take advantage of the Thursday night cooking class that they offer in their private residence due to our short stay. That will be on the list the next time we go to Sedona, especially after the rave reviews other guests gave for that.

The four course breakfasts were amazing. While there is a set menu for each morning, the food is delicious. You will not need to stop for lunch anywhere after breakfast at the Inn on Oak Creek. This is a Bed and Breakfast, not a restaurant. I have not stayed at any B&Bs over the years that allow you to order a breakfast separate from what has been prepared. Pam and Jim did contact us before we came to stay asking if we had any dietary restrictions or allergies. So if you have specific food requests, you could probably make them in advance of your stay and be accommodated. But this is a small operation, so there is not a full kitchen staff ready to accommodate each individual. The granola is terrific, and they will send you home with the recipe. We were not able to make it to the evening hors d’oeuvres during our stay.

The lobby / dining area has shelves of guides to the area as well as a basket full of menus from local restaurants. There is a room on the upper level with a computer where you can check email, flight info, and anything else you might need a computer for.

All in all, we had a wonderful stay at the Inn and will stay there in the future.
