“Very Nice stay at the Ridge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

My wife and I stayed at the Ridge last week and enjoyed it. We went there on an Interval timeshare "getaway", got a great price and had rented a 2 BR unit. Initially (before arriving) I wasn't expecting to be impressed as I have been spoiled by Marriott and have had some past issues with Diamond. But, in total, I was pretty impressed with this place and would go back again!!! Thumbs up!

The pluses:
The place was very clean (my wife - - as she always does - - went around with Sani-wipes and said that the place was very clean. Kudos to the cleaning staff. They're doing a good job.
The unit was quiet in the evening and very comfortable
The bedding and towels were VERY good (I was pleased that the bedding was hypo-allergenic - - Marriott - - you should copy Diamond in this area !!)
The unit had been freshly repainted
The entire area is very pretty, lots to see and lots of good restaurants
There are computers in the lobby which were fairly accessible (free)
No bugs seen !
There is a free safe in the main and efficiency side.

The minuses (not enough to discourage me):
We were in building 22 - - on the map it appeared to be close to a spa but required about 50 steps to be climbed. Our view was very limited. But that wasn't a terribly big issue on this trip.
They were doing some major remodeling so we heard noise during the day. Our unit was not yet remodeled and had old non-flat-screen TVs.
The nearby gas grills were hard to start and it heated very slowly. I had to ask for help from maintenance. I think that the gas pressure was too low. But after "someone" - - wink wink - - turned up the pressure (to where it should have been) and it worked MUCH better both in starting and heating up.
We had a few minor issues (the radio/dvd player was unplugged), the gas fireplace had to be turned on and off about 1/2 dozen times before it finally started (every time!) , the clock radio is close to impossible to program. No HBO/Showtime.
The timeshare sales vultures were active at the activities desk. Typical pushiness but not to a fault.

Other: there are lots of restaurants in the area. On Thursday night the very nearby Sedona Golf Club (2 blocks from lobby) has a $14 buffet. Very good food. Cafe Jose, also nearby, was good. Red Rock cafe has moved a few round-abouts north. The IGA grocery store is only about 1/2 mile away. The Safeway is in Sedona.
We went on the Verde Canyon Train trip by Cottonwood. It was VERY enjoyable and relaxing. It is a "must do".

Things to consider when booking:
The upper floors have better views and are (reportedly) quieter. But there are no elevators
There are many steps to the spas, and no elevators ( an issue if you're traveling with people with disabilities)
They have good (free) coffee in the lobby.

Room Tip: Upper floor (more quiet and better view). Ask for remodeled unit with a view. If the weather is co...

“Wonderful get away-highly recommend”

We were able to stay at the Ridge for one night on a reward deal from the Scottsdale Links Resort. What a wonderful stay! Four of us stayed in a beautiful 2 room connected suite. The beds were comfortable, the kitchens (one in each room) were updated, fully equipped and wonderful. If you have mobility problems, this resort might not be for you. There were stairs everywhere including for the entry to our condo. The pools and hot tubs were terrific (stair accessible). A bit of a drive to Sedona since this resort is really located in Oak Creek, a few miles south. Would highly recommend. We are not golfers but loved our stay near Sedona at this wonderful resort.

“A few dings, but very nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Arrived at 3, but had to wait about 45 minutes for our room. We got a studio in Building 6, and were plesently surprised to see we had a better kitchen than anticipated from the printed material. This is a time share property, so you have to get your "pool pass" from the consierge, which is their opportunity to pitch a presentation, but no pressure, and the incentives were good. We opted out. They recommended a few resturants, but we found them very ordinary, and you can do better in Sedona or Oak Creek Village. Room was clean, bed was adequate (can't get a king in a sutio), but the sheets were a little worn, and the housekeeper short sheeted the bed. Time to buy fitted sheets, I think. Bathroom and shower were very nice, and spacious. Pool and tot tubs were very nice with some really nice views of the red-rocks. This location is the very south end of the area, so allow 15-20 minutes to get to Downtown Sedona. All of the appliances worked well, and seemed pretty new. The TV was a bit small, but the studios are actually part of a two bedroom condo they lock off for rentals like ours, so the "big" TV is in the other, adjoining unit. Noise from the neibors was minimal, and ice and trash areas were close enough, but outside. All in all I'd go back, but get the one bedroom.

Room Tip: Get the 1-2 bedroom if you want a king bed. Studio has a nice kitchen too.

“Peaceful, nice resort”

With the mixed reviews, I was very worried but didn't need to be. The place is very nice, well kept and the staff is very courteous. We had a studio type room, it had a queen bed, a pull out bed and a kichenette with dining table. The bathroom was very nice and everything seemed new. If you are staying there or not, dining at their restaruant is a must. The view is spectacular and the food matches it. It is very close to downtown Sedona. I suggest going to the Sedona airport, the restaurant there is very good and the view of Sedona Red Rocks is amazing. Also don't forget to climb the Vortex Rock going up to the airport, even if you don't feel anything the view halfway up the rock is, of course, like anything Sedona, breath taking.

I thought when I needed to get away that a pool and view would be perfect. WOW! Was I right! The pool up on top of the ridge is amazing, view and fountain are perfect. Then, when I found the empty hot tub located at the top of the hill, all alone just calling my name I was in Heaven! Awesome rooms, awesome staff. The perfect place in Sedona to stay.
