“Amazing, just wonderful!!”

After having been in Sedona a long time ago, we went back this february and picked after careful searching th Penrose B&B. It wasn't cheap, but it was worth every dollar spend!! What a great experience in every sense. The house is situated marvelous in between the biggest Red Rock formations, awesome views from your window. The daughter of the owner has done the interior with an eye for detail, it's so relaxing. Each room is an oasis of peace and has all a seasoned traveller might want to have. The breakfast is a feast, each morning you'll be surprised what they come up with, but it's all mouthwatering and well done fresh fruits etc. All in all an unforgettable experience, a must do for a demanding traveller.
Oh...and at check out there's a surprise waiting for you...which I will not comment on...enjoy!!

Room Tip: All rooms are marvelous!!

My husband and I stayed one night in the Yavapai Room. It was very secluded and very romantic. Location was amazing, the view took our breath away. We bacame engaged there! Breakfast was served outside on a beautiful sunny morning and the food was fantastic. we look forward to our next visit to The Penrose. 5 star all the way!

Room Tip: if you like quiet, secluded, romantic and intimate then the Yavapai Room is perfect!

“Your secret hideaway!”

5 star all the way!!!! Normally I submit a review after we had returned home, but tonight as I am drinking a glass of wine on my private porch viewing the Red rocks at sunset, I couldn't wait to share our fabulous experience at the Penrose. First off...we also are staying in the Mariposa. Small room, I think not, there is also a couch, casual chair, narrow tall dresser, assorted end tables AND still we had plenty of room to move about. THE VIEWS!!!! To wake up in the morning to sunrise on Bell rock is beyond words! As far as location, it is perfect, only minutes south of Sedona, very quiet and peaceful. Whitney and Christie Pope are the so charming, perfect hosts, and oh the breakfast....Starbucks coffee, fresh orange juice, a smoothie and delicious blue corn tortilla omelet with fresh fruit and beans. Last night the homemade lemon bars awaited us for an evening snack. Our queen bed is very comfortable, a memory foam type I believe. Right now the sky is aglow with the blues, oranges and pink of the sunset, and we see this all from our wall of windows here in our room at the Penrose.

Room Tip: Take a side trip to Jerome, amazing views, and enjoy a meal at the Haunted Hamburger! Elite for up...

“Surrounded by Red Buttes-Fantastic Vistas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

We stayed two nights in the Mariposa Room. The only draw back I have to mention is that our room was very small. The queen size bed took up practically the whole room leaving very little space to move around.
We really liked the location of The Penrose even though it was not particularly close to anything we wanted to do. However, the Coconino National Forest is so beautiful we really didn't mind the 20 minute + drive to get to where we wanted to go. The setting for The Penrose is very quite, peaceful, and removed from the madness of downtown Sedona.
We've stayed at a fair amount of B&B's and my #1 criteria for rating a B&B is the quality of the breakfast. The Penrose gets 5-STARS! It was unique (something I wouldn't fix myself), delicious, attractively presented, and truly gourmet. The patio setting, at the foot of the red buttes, was inspiring. You would never guess you were in a residential neighborhood. We were delightfully entertained by desert squirrels, red birds, and lizards.
Another nice surprise--the proprietor offered to take a commemorative photograph of us against the beautiful back drop of Bell Rock. He edited it and printed it on photo paper while we checked out. Oh, and you also get to pick a souvenir T-Shirt.
We will come back again only next time we will opt for a larger room.

Room Tip: Mariposa Room too small.

“Wonderful B & B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

This is one of the most charming and perfect B & Bs you will ever find! We stayed at The Penrose for five days in December, and although the weather was not great, the inn was fabulous! Whitney and Christie are warm and caring inn-keepers who made our stay all the more perfect with the special care to food and excellent advice regarding hiking trails.
The Coconino room and it's amazing red rock views from three (!!!!) sides was beautiful, with crisp white linens and warm wooden floors.
We had a wonderful time and would certainly love to return to The Penrose if we get a chance to travel this way again!

Room Tip: Coconino overlooks the entry, but it has the best views and noise was never an issue! Loved it!
