“A Mixed Bag, but overall a good, affordable option for Phoenix area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I was in Phoenix for a conference and was looking for an affordable place to stay and decided on the 3 Palms. Overall, I was fairly pleased with the hotel and would recommended it if you were concerned about keeping costs down while trying to stay in a somewhat accessible location.

The good things about the hotel and room include the quality of the room, pool area, and location right next to a park. The rooms were of adequate size and at the core is basically a motel room, but I was really impressed with the upgraded details. For instance, the tile around the bathtub actually seemed like granite and not one of those white plastic tub covers they throw up there in other motels. The overall look was modern too. Some minimal wear and tear, but nothing too bad. The pool area was also very nice. Modest size, but well maintained and comfortable. Also, the location next to a park was really nice in that it was a great place to go for a run, and that side of the hotel stays fairly quiet (from street traffic at least...more on that below). I didn't use the fitness center, but it's kind of small. I also had a good experience with the staff, but I only really interacted with them at check-in and check-out.

The main issue I had with this hotel was the noise. Like a motel, every room has a window and door to the outside hall along the same wall. So we could pretty much hear everyone that walked by. And if you are in a room near an ice machine, be prepared to here that going off all the time. I had no idea people got ice that often!!! This was a bigger concern when you are in the room hanging out. I was never woken up by any of it at night, but if you are a light sleeper, I would avoid this place.

Also, to me, the website for this place makes it seem like a self-contained resort-type hotel and I was surprised that is was basically a motel setup with two long buildings and parking all around. Anyway, not as much on that front if you were thinking this place had a resort-type feel.

This is a keeper and I will return when I'm in Scottsdale again. I needed to stay 2 extra days but my room wasn't available. I'm picky regarding room location and Wendy went out of her way to make me happy. Beds are very comfortable. Rooms are very clean. Its on quite street across from a small park. The only sort of down side is that the rooms aren't huge. We had plenty of room to sprawl and did not find it a problem. The decor is updated and there's even room service. The pool looked relaxing, tables, chairs & lounges

“Perfectly satisfactory once you get through the check-in process.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

There were 3 different parties trying to check in at the same time this afternoon and we all had different issues. Three different problems from three different customers at the same time doesn't speak well for the property. My problem was the least serious and I was therefore not terribly upset to see the clerks and then the manager treat it as non-existent in light of the complaints of others. Still, it was more than 2 hours from my first appearance at the front desk to the moment when I entered my room. (Admittedly, I did arrive almost an hour before the stated check-in time, but had thus advised the reservations clerk when making the phone reservation.) Apparently, we were told, a laundry room fire has made housekeeping rely on outside linen service and created delays.

Once in the the room, it was fine, a bit crowded, but that was mainly due to the rather odd placement of the large whirlpool tub in the bedroom, barely 18 inches away from the bed.itself. The 50 inch plasma TV looked impressive but I didn't have a chance to use it during my brief stay.. The complimentary wireless internet was flawless and allowed me to write this review before leaving the property.

“AMAZING!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

What a great property! Fun, funky and pleasant. From arriving early to departing this morning, it was a great time. Location is wonderful for me - so much to do and see. Always a relaxing and peaceful oasis here.

Wendy at the front desk made it special - she was so sweet and informative. Smiled and laughed with us and made us feel welcome!

The shampoo/conditioner and lotion are the BOMB!!! ;-)

“always a good stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

I staycation here a lot or when I need a hotel to sleep at safely if I go out to party in scottsdale or tempe instead of driving home. It's a 5 minute cab to downtown or other attractions, or you could even walk to places. It's modern, clean, very comfortable and the staff is friendly. The pool is awesome, especially in the spring and summer when the pool bar is open.
The bed is extremely comfortable, flat screen tv's,free wifi, cable tv and they are partnered with the neighbooring restaurant, Avalon, nextdoor so you can charge the restaurant's bar and food to your room and even have it delivered.

Room Tip: rooms on the west side are quieter during the busier months and overlook a park and small lake. Summ...
