“Excellent Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 December 2011

I stayed at the hotel recently and the beds were very cozy and the food was yummy.

Two major bonuses for this Courtyard are free is the free wireless internet and they even have free use of the PC they have in the lobby with printer!   How cool is that?

The buffet breakfast was great and had plenty of choices and was not expensive compared to other Marriott's I stayed at.

It was convenient location and we were able to walk to Old Town Scottsdale. The hotel overall was very clean and the service was great!

If I have to return to Scottsdale again, I'd stay at this hotel. They have a great pizza restaurant just down the street called Oregano's great service and food!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the second floor.

Thank you very much for posting your thoughts about your stay at my hotel. I appreciate your comments about my team keeping the hotel clean and providing excellent service - that is what we pride ourselves on - making memories! I am happy to hear that you found the complimentary Wi-Fi to be valuable during your stay. In addition to having wireless service throughout the hotel, lobby and even poolside we offer 5 computers in our newly renovated lobby where you can print, check email or get the latest news. As for the breakfast buffet (using that term shows that you have been a loyal guest) it is now the Bistro and it is a buffet of offerings from our newly redesigned menu with everything from delicious breakfast sandwiches, to the morning scramble, to fresh fruit cups and of course you can get your favorite Starbucks drink before you head out for another great day in Scottsdale. My team and I look forward to your next visit to Scottsdale and expecially my hotel!

“Will never stay again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I travel to Phoenix for work on regular basis, I am a Marriott Platinum member so I have seen a lot of different properties in AZ and other states. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I guess for the price of over $200 a night I expect a little more. First of all, as soon as I walked in to hotel room, I heard this noise and I thought someone was vacuuming outside, come to find out it’s the noise AC. The room never cooled down to the right temp so the AC kept kicking in all night long, it was impossible to sleep! The "gym" was 3 treadmills in one hotel room on the first floor (!!!!) It may be cozy but not when you are working out :)
I found out later that the real gym is under construction but how about letting the guests know in advance or lowering the price of the hotel while its under construction.
The hotel is over a mile walk from Old Town and the neighborhood is pretty sketchy. I am pretty sure that the woman with whom I rode the elevator in the morning was a "night" guest of who ever stayed across the hallway.
There are plenty of other hotel properties closer to all the action, this one is not worth the value!

I have reviewed your posting about my hotel. As a Marriott Platinum member you are at an elite level in Marriott and a valued traveler. I would like to discuss your stay with you further if you are interested in a resolution. During the time you stayed our hotel was in the final stages of completing our new lobby renovation which included the meeting rooms and excercise room. All of the construction is completed and I would love to have you back so you can experience our state of the art workout facility with brand new MATRIX equiptment including 3 treadmills, 2 eliptical machines, a recumbent bike, a fitness trainer and free weights. I have pictures of the new facility that I would love to send you if you would like to contact me via email I would be happy to share those with you.

“Nice hotel, but lacking in the finer details”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

I really enjoyed the hotel. It's nice and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. It's just the finer details that were lacking. The wireless connection was very slow...at times download was as slow as .25 MB (as in point two five) and upload was .0005 MB (no typos...I checked four times). I guess I'm spoiled, because I stayed in a Courtyard in Houma, LA 2 days ago and got 20 MB down (yes, twenty megs) and 5 MB up (now that was amazing).

Every other Courtyard I've stayed in set your bathroom up with shampoo, conditioner and moisturizing lotion. This one skipped out on the lotion all 3 nights. Not sure why...this IS Arizona after all. This really didn't matter to me until the 3rd night when the lack of humidity really kicked in. When you're from Louisiana, 98% humidity is something you take for granted. When you switch to 10% humidity, well... after a few days, your skin starts to rebel!

The fitness center has 2 treadmills, 2 stair machines, 1 bike and a set of dumbbells. That's it. So if you're looking to get in a decent work out, forget it.

Thank you for your time writing a post regarding your stay at my hotel. While reading your post it was clear to me that the internet access was the largest inconvenience to you. At times last year our internet was being utilized to its fullest therefore causing intermittent service slow downs, We have completed the upgrade to the wireless internet and would love for you to come back and give us another chance. I apologize that your room was not stocked, for future stays we have lotion available complimentary at the front desk. As for the fitness center, I am pleased to let you know that it has been completely renovated with brand new MATRIX equiptment - we have 3 treadmills, 2 eliptical machines, 1 recumbent bike, free weights and an awesome fitness trainer. Thanks again for your review - please come back again soon - it is a new stay!

“Great location, clean, tidy and modern”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

Hotel is just outside downtown, you can walk and not have the noise. Furniture is mahonany so could do with updating, but the whole feel of the room (overlooking the courtyard) is spacious, the king size bed and memory foam mattress assured a great nights sleep and the free wi-fi is an added bonus. The carpets and decor and all fresh and clean with flatscreen LG TV enjoyed from the sofa. The aircon (can be noisy at times, but you can block it out) works really well. The pool looks inviting but we didn't use. The entrance foyer has had a refurbishment and looks clean, modern and inviting. Little booths with TVs with your own remote so you can relax with a beer and watch the box. I'd stay here again. Part of Cosmos/Archers Direct Western Wonders Tour.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the Courtyard. Larger Guest rooms are good.

Thank you so very much for your posting regarding your stay with us. I was pleased to see that you really enjoyed your room and your bedding (the most important part of getting a great nights sleep) and the cleanliness. My team of amazing housekeepers take pride in the cleanliness of their rooms and the entire hotel. Thank you for mentioning our brand new renovated lobby space. As you mentioned the little booths with your own private tv - those are media pods and we have 5 of them and there are not many times of the day when these are empty, they have been a huge hit with everyone from the business traveler tryiong to catch up on work to the family enjoying breakfast watching Saturday morning cartoons. Thanks again for your feedback - looking forward to your next visit!

“Tried twice, still not sure”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

person found this review helpful

I tried this hotel twice (In August and October) and I am still not sure; yet Marriott Courtyard are my preferred place most times. Most of my issues were corrected and most earlier issues related to renovation going on in August. One issue still remains, and that is the desk staff member who is full of misinformation. She told me in August (and I overheard her telling it again in October) that walking to the Scottsdale Art Galleries was an easy walk and there was an area shuttle bus. First, there is a significant walk to the nearest shuttle stop and it is even farther to the galleries. And in August when it is 110 degrees it is not an easy walk. This most recent visit she recommended I park my car at the hotel and catch a cab to the airport--because airport parking fees were $25/day. Simply, that was not true. City of Phoenix parking fees are $9/day for long-term parking. The $25/day was in the hourly parking area nearest the terminals. I didn't price out my cab ride but probably minimum of $25 each way, but my 5 day parking totalled $45. This desk clerk needs to check her facts before she speaks!!! BEWARE!!

Room Tip: As for an upper floor room facing the courtyard.

Thank you for your feedback. The renovation of our brand new lobby will be complete on Tuesday, October 11th. I am glad that we were able to better meet your lodging needs. That said, I apologize for the incorrect information that our front desk associate gave you. All of our front desk associates are trained to be knowledgeable about the Scottsdale area in order to best answer any questions our guests might have. Since this did not happen in your case, I will review the local area knowledge with my team to ensure that this does not happen again. I hope that you will consider staying with us in the future and thank you for being a loyal Marriott Courtyard guest.
