“So good to us !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Not wanting to spend over $200 to be on the Mayo Clinic compound, we choose the Sleep Inn, 2 miles away, at a Mayo price of $109 per night. When we arrive, a sign in the Lobby Welcomed my Sister by name as "Guest of the Day". In our room was a basket of goodies and a card for her also, from the Front Desk. They really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Cookies were available at the Lobby when we checked in.

The room is small but has everything we need; 2 comfortable beds, bathroom with outside Vanity and sink, big shower, fridge, microwave, flat screen tv, free wifi (not secured, but totally acceptable), and smoke free. Complementary Breakfast in the morning runs from 6-10 and is just down the hall.

A free 24 hour shuttle takes us to and picks us up from the Mayo Clinic whenever we need.
The gal at the front desk provided us with coupons and a map of nearby restaurants. We ordered from Carlos O'Briens and they delivered to our room, no extra delivery charge, and it came really fast (like 15 minutes). Other restaurants near by will do the same I hear. Menu's are provided in the rooms for many of these places and were much appreciated as it had been a long day for us. My Sister has cancer, the reason for our trip here to the Mayo Clinic.

It is quiet, the air conditioner is working well. We have no complaints and we would highly recommend the Sleep Inn.

Room Tip: There's an elevator, so any room is good.

“Life in a construction zone”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past and generally consider it a good, inexpensive choice -- certainly not luxury, but good value for the price. However, we are currently staying at the Sleep Inn, which is in the middle of extensive remodeling. The rooms and the halls reek of fresh paint and other construction chemicals. Workmen are in the halls all day every day and sometimes we cannot get into our room without forcing someone to stop working and move his equipment away from our door. It can be hard to sleep at night, since the odors permeate the rooms and linger through the night. We were given no warning when we booked our rooms and we we certainly have not been offered any kind of discount for the unacceptable conditions.I hope to be able to take this up more directly with the management, but so far all I have been offered is a standard "guest rating" form. I consider this all the be very poor behavior and I warn any prospective guests that this seems to be an establishment that doesn't really care about its guests.

I am terribly sorry you weren't able to speak with our manager while you were still on site, and we have sent you a private email with her cell phone number to use if you will give us the opportunity to make this right for you, or, please feel free to contact me directly at kenjacobs@zmchotels.com if you would like to discuss this further. I do hope that this one bad experience won't prevent you from coming back to a hotel you have enjoyed in the past, and that you will be happy with the improvements we are making. The remodeling has been finished, and the property celebrated a Grand Re-Opening on January 11. Thank you for being our loyal guest and for sharing your experience.

“This is the place to stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

You don't need to look any further, I loved our stay here. The staff were fantastic as was the hotel, very reasonably priced too. We were very weary travellers so didn't get to see much of S.dale itself, (we'd gone for a jazz event) . The free shuttle was really helpful and was 24 hrs a day. Beds were really comfortable and room very clean. There was a bar nearby " The Tilted Kilt" it was great, also plenty of restaurants, and a sports bar. Down town is just a 15-20 minute drive.
