“enjoyable business stay”

I also was there for a conference The property is beautiful and very large Be prepared to walk alot. My room was nice and large but there was alot of noise from the airconditioning unit which made a loud noise very time it kicked on. The whole going green thing is nice but I only had one towel. Of course there is a charge for everything. For our conference, they added $12 to the bill for bellman which I only saw once in my five days. Charge for internet, charge for self parking of $10 a day which is absolutely ridiculous given all the space. Staff was friendly and professional. The spa is lovely and the golf great. this is not a 5 star experience but consistent and comfortable.

“Bad choice in Scottsdale”

Our stay at this property started out well, it just didn't continue that way. There were numerous uniformed, helpful people at the door and in reception when we arrived. Our "casita" wasn't ready, but that was okay - we were early. The common areas of the property appeared to be beautiful and cared for. Things went downhill after we went to the casita. The first issue we encountered was the amount of bird poop that covered the stairs to get to our unit. There was enough that it was virtually impossible to step over it. Once we were in, we found the casita was quite spacious in the bedroom/living area, bathroom and balcony, but the finishes were dated. Some of the furniture was almost falling apart. Still, this was manageable. By that night, I found that the bath tub levers for hot and cold water only worked on the hot side so I gave up on the idea of a long soak. By the next day we realized the toilet only flushed maybe 1 out of 6 tries - my spouse and I were mistakenly blaming each other for not flushing it (it just made the sounds of flushing). We reported the bird poop, toilet and bathtub issues to housekeeping. Someone eventually came to clean the poop (it was somewhat disgusting that housekeeping clearly had walked through it, while ignoring it multiple times when they serviced the room). No one responded to our first call about the toilet and tub. We discovered that upon return that night so we called again - a day later someone finally came - we were there when they arrived, but out of the room when they left. When we returned, the tub was still broken. The toilet worked a couple of times and then stopped again. In addition to these issues, on our last night, we needed room service after arriving back starved at 1 am - we were informed it would be at least 2 hours before they could bring any food. It was clear the person who answered just wanted us to go away - which we did, for good.

Guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It does not appear you were able to enjoy our 5-Diamond Service Standard, and your comments have been shared with the rest of our team for internal follow-up. Our casitas have been recently renovated, so it is surprising to hear of the issues you encountered. We would love to have you stay with us again should you find yourself in Scottsdale, and encourage you to contact us directly to give us the opportunity to discuss your feedback in greater detail.

Best Regards,

“a relaxing experience, even when it is a business trip.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

I stayed in the hotel for a conference I attended and my husband came along. Overall, it was a nice property. My check-in expeirence was great, a young lady was very patient in helping locating a room to our satisfaction, and took the time to explain everything including the Fairmont membership. The rooms are not big, but the design is such that it feels spacious, and not plain. The Nespresso machine was a huge darling and the housekeeping replenishes the supply often. Overall, furnishing and sheets are of higher quality than that in Phoenician or Royal Palm. There were a number of pool areas and both well appointed. Room service was efficient and pleasant.
Unfortunately, we didn't have time to use the spa. One thing that was bothering and I heard from a number of conference attendees was that the shampoo and lotion provided in the guest room is of a scent labeled "Rose 31", and how very awful was that smell. We also had some issues with internet connectivity during the last two days of our stay.

“Best Service I've Ever Had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

From the moment you arrive, the service is spectacular. The property is beautiful, a bit large and complicated to navigate, but overall a wonderful place to stay. We upgraded our room to one overlooking the pool. The weather was great during the day and cool at night. Plenty of "warming" stations everywhere. Most of our eating was off property, but the Bistro in the morning was delicious. My wife's visit to the spa was a smashing success. All in all, a bit expensive, but you get what you pay for. Two big thumbs up.

“Winter Sun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We made a quick trip to Arizona in search for some sun. The Fairmont has large grounds where we enjoyed a nice walk in the morning and then sat outside with a drink at night at their outdoor fire pits. They even have a pond you can fish in which was a favorite for our son. You can rent the fishing poles at the tennis shop -- we caught several fish using only bread for bait! The South Pool was warm enough to swim in even though the outside temp was not that high. The rooms are nothing to highlight but were clean and worked just fine for our family. The spa was better than most Fairmont spas with it's own rooftop swimming pool and several areas to relax.
