I was attending a conference at the Fairmont next door, but they were full and suggested Zona. My assistant booked a standard room. When I arrived I asked for a room near the Fairmont and was given one. It was dark and small in Casita 9 on the ground floor. I quickly discovered that the wireless signal was very weak so I called the providing company. He could see my device and did everything he could to improve it. I only had a signal if I stood next to the door or went outside. Later I discovered that I had no cell reception. Next I figured out that there was no security chain or peephole in the door. The bed was good, but when I went outside the next morning there were dozens of dead flies outside. I finally asked for another room and was cheerfully moved to a one bedroom unit on the top floor. It was fine. On checkout I was asked about my stay and after I described it one night was taken off my bill.....so, what do I think? Do not under any circumstances accept a standard room on the ground floor. Complain immediately if things aren't right. By the way, I was paying something approaching rack rate. Would I stay there again? Not likely. First impressions matter.
