“Aged property but well kept and updated suites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012 via mobile

We stayed here during a recent company conference. We could walk 10-15 minutes to get restaurants and shops. Our room was massive...two bedrooms and two baths. In the master bath there was an enourmous whirlpool tub for two. The light switches were very confusing in the rooms. They had several lamps hooked up to one switch and even the alarm clock, so every time housekeeping was there, they would turn the switch off and the clock would be flashing when we got back to the room. Not sure why there was a shortage of outlets. The layout of the hotel is kinda weird. It did take a long time to get to our room from the front lobby, which was kind of annoying on a chilly desert night. There are two pools and at least one hot tub, which we enjoyed one night. The breakfast was probably my favorite part. It is served cafeteria style with eggs cooked to order, hashbrowns, and toast. Nice to have a hot breakfast instead of some lackluster buffet items like cold cereal and crappy waffles. The other meals that the hotel provided for our conference were pretty good, too. We had a nice lunch buffet and for dinner one evening we had steak, which was okay.

“Amazing Service, heated pool, great restaurant”

I booked 130 room nights for an annual conference I host. We used to bounce around hotel wise until we came here. The service is amazing. Whatever you need and with a real smile. Very lush landscaping. Every room is a suite. 2 people have tons of room. They cook an eggs, bacon, pancakes, hash browns breakfast for their guests every morning, it's included. Free airport pick up and take you back. You don't need a car, you are less than a mile from Old Town. If you want to drive into the desert, Dollar Rental Car has a desk in the lobby. This property is locally owned, and the family has the 3rd generation in the building everyday. From the minute you check in, you feel like a guest in their home. You couldn't pry me out of Scottsdale Suites.

Room Tip: Be nice and you get whatever you ask for!

“Good Location, Dark Rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We spent 2 nights at the Chaparral Suites while attending a wedding in Old Scottsdale. The event was only about a mile from the hotel so that was a plus. There was a block of rooms reserved for the wedding @ $169/night but we booked our room through Travelzoo for $99 & I would have been upset if I had paid more. As others have written the place is decent but dated. The pool & spa area was nice with plenty of loungers & chairs & the water temp was good. The bedroom was fine, comfortable king bed, flat screen TV, desk but no chair, typical bathroom with Jergens & Pantene products and the worst bedside reading lamps ever. I have no problem with CFL bulbs, but they needed more wattage. The living room was dark even with all the lights on, again needing more wattage but there was a dining table with 3 chairs, a small couch, 1 comfortable chair & a nice flat screen TV . The little ?bar area had a sink, microwave & refrigerator but no tableware or siverware, not even wine glasses although there was a sign that said those were available on request. There apparently is an evening wine reception in the area where breakfast is served but we didn't attend. The breakfast was adequate, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, 1-2 kinds of fruit & cold cereal served in the hotel's "club house". The entry door had a big sign on it stating "no firearms allowed" which creeped us out until we remembered we were in Arizona! This is not a bad place but it's not a resort either. Lots of seminars & auctions were going on in the meeting rooms but there was plenty of parking so that was not a problem. We slept pretty well, the room was clean so I would consider this a good but not great hotel.

“Okay Hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

This is a okay hotel in an okay location. Our room was clean and the breakfast was fine. There are a lot of families here and big groups (because of the price). Not the best place for a romantic getaway or to relax. The front desk staff was not helpful at all when we asked for recommendations local attractions or restaurants, which surprised me.

“Great hotel for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

I went to this property with 4 girlfriends for a short wkend to celebrate a "50" the Bday. The pools and hot tubs were just the right temp, made to order b-fast was fabulous and the happy hour was good, however it's bar pour. This is not a new property however the rooms were clean and bedding very comfortable. I would definately stay there again. The food at the 4th floor bar was awesome! Staff very friendly and in a great spot near old Town and Scottsdale Quarter so didn't need a car.
