We spent 2 nights at the Chaparral Suites while attending a wedding in Old Scottsdale. The event was only about a mile from the hotel so that was a plus. There was a block of rooms reserved for the wedding @ $169/night but we booked our room through Travelzoo for $99 & I would have been upset if I had paid more. As others have written the place is decent but dated. The pool & spa area was nice with plenty of loungers & chairs & the water temp was good. The bedroom was fine, comfortable king bed, flat screen TV, desk but no chair, typical bathroom with Jergens & Pantene products and the worst bedside reading lamps ever. I have no problem with CFL bulbs, but they needed more wattage. The living room was dark even with all the lights on, again needing more wattage but there was a dining table with 3 chairs, a small couch, 1 comfortable chair & a nice flat screen TV . The little ?bar area had a sink, microwave & refrigerator but no tableware or siverware, not even wine glasses although there was a sign that said those were available on request. There apparently is an evening wine reception in the area where breakfast is served but we didn't attend. The breakfast was adequate, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, 1-2 kinds of fruit & cold cereal served in the hotel's "club house". The entry door had a big sign on it stating "no firearms allowed" which creeped us out until we remembered we were in Arizona! This is not a bad place but it's not a resort either. Lots of seminars & auctions were going on in the meeting rooms but there was plenty of parking so that was not a problem. We slept pretty well, the room was clean so I would consider this a good but not great hotel.
