“Very cool hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

What a nice change from your average chain hotel. Don't mistake the hip, retro look for rundown. This is a very well-maintained property. The room was good size, very large patio, very well-appointed, and the free wi-fi signal was strong (a frustration at some places). The staff is extremely friendly from the front desk to room service to maintenance people on the grounds. The rooftop deck is a great place for a party. The Fitness Center was first rate, both in equipment and amenities (free ear plugs, towels, water, computer/tv screens). I was there for a conference and didn't have high expectations for our box lunch. I was wrong. The sandwich was very good as was the reston the many items they put in the box. The property is not far from PHX and a short walk to some nice restaurants. I didn't eat in ZuZu, but it looked cool.
The only ding I could give this place (and it's a small one) is that the ice machines are not on ech floor and can be hard to find (the one I found was outside between the buildings).

Hotels don't usually impress me, but this one is very good!

Joe,

Thank you for your kind review of our property! I'm please you enjoyed your room, the fitness center, and our catered food. I definitely recommend eating at ZuZu next time you are here; the restaurant features a modern take on classic comfort food. We do have ice machines near each building, but they are all on the first floor - you are correct. I'm sorry you had a hard time finding one of them. If you return for a future visit, please know that room service will deliver ice free of charge. We hope to see you again!

I'm glad you had time to enjoy our pool; it's a must-do in March. I also like the location of the hotel; there is definitely a lot to see in Old Town Scottsdale. Your flight over the Grand Canyon sounds marvelous! Thank you for taking time to share your experience and we hope to welcome you back soon.

“Different in a Great Way......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

This 1950's built hotel has both evolved and morphed into something extraordinary and exciting. I am sure it had bad moments as the years went by but someone took a chance and turned this into a spectacularly different upscale dessert/urban destination. The rooms (this visit it was a suite....Room 409) are retro and have everything you could want for both comfort and enjoyment. Ask for the pool side view if you are in the high rise (7 stories?) building. Room service is prompt and courteous and the pool staff friendly and fast. They have bicycles to rent and are near the Arizona canal (or whatever it is called) that has a nice bikable trail next to it. You are also very close....nicely walkable....to lots of shopping and non-hotel restaurants. Rooms are not cheap but well worth the price.

Room Tip: Ask which direction your assigned room faces if you are in the high rise building. You don't wan...

I'm please you had such a pleasant stay! I also like the pool-view rooms in The Tower (which is 7 stories, you are correct). There are definitely a lot of great places to bike nearby, which is a good way to work off a meal! Be sure to follow us on Facebook or Twitter to hear about our latest deals. We hope to see you again soon, and thank you for your review.

“Great Place To Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

The staff at this hotel is amazing. It seems that they are trying to anticipate your needs and be ready and waiting for you. The grounds are immaculate and beautiful as well as the guest rooms. The spa facility is "oh so peaceful and relaxing". I have been a guest there several times and every experience is equally awesome! Thank you Valley Ho.

Room Tip: You need to specify if you want a bathtub, otherwise you could end up with a shower only.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed our spa, grounds, and rooms! While most of our rooms have bathtubs, a few do not, so it is a good idea to request one specifically if you like to have one. We hope to see you again soon!
