“Great staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Went there for one night only. Forgot it was Superbowl Sunday. I was the only person in the restaurant. The bartender/waitress, kept me company the whole time., which goes a long way with a traveller on their own. The folks in the kitchen even made me a special dessert. My flight wasn't until 4 the next afternoon and they glady accommodated my request for late check out.

Hotel itself is newly "rennovated". Some cool colors and awesome fires around the swimming pools at nigth. Certainly not a 4 star, but clean and pretty. I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Read about it in the NY Times. The hotel is running a special for the month of Feb. 100/night. HURRY!

Room Tip: Try and get a room off the main street. Quiet at night but can be noisy during the day.

“Old dog, new coat”

This review is written from a business traveler's point of view. I've stayed at this property three times in its last reincarnation. For those stays I can say it was the worst hotel experience I've ever had in AZ, and I stay in that market at least 30-40 nights a year.

It does have a great location.

The current re-do has addressed some of the noise issues by carpeting the hallways but the rooms are not one inch bigger. It is bright and cheerful and you can walk to downtown Scottsdale and drink the night away.

The staff was cheerful.

This is however an urban hotel with all the noise of an urban environment. It's surrounded by noise. In the summer there is a significant amount of motorcycle noise as the local Harley bar has last call. I've been wakened several times by drunks returning to their rooms at 2am or later.

I think what really frosted me this trip was the parking charge of 14 dollars a night plus tax which added another 16 bucks to the bill. I am used to the idea in the Phoenix market that sometimes I pay a resort fee, but that's at a resort. I never pay for parking in Arizona. But this time, the management has added a new fee, just because they can.

I'd rate this hotel a 3 star, not the 4 star that it is classified as when you bid on hotel rooms. For that reason I'll never bid again on a 4 star hotel in the Scottsdale market. I don't want the noise, and I don't want to be ripped of, just because they can.

Room Tip: Inside rooms have less noise.

Thanks for providing some critical points of view on our hotel and the surrounding nightlife. It is true that there are many bars and restaurants close by our hotel, which does create a bit of noise on occasion. However, our location is viewed by most as one of the best parts about staying in the heart of Old Town. We know that location and community activity can sometimes be in conflict, but we certainly can apprecaite your feedback.

We do hope to see you again in the future.

“I really liked this place!”

I booked here because of the great location and good reviews. I stayed here for 3 nights and really enjoyed it. It's right in Old Town Scottsdale so you can walk to all sorts of great places and 400 stores that sell Indian Jewelry lol. The valets are the most important part of the hotel to me. The immediately made me feel welcome and made a bunch of great recommendations to eat, drink, etc. Bar and restaurant in the hotel are superb as is the pool. It has the best workout facility of any hotel I've stayed in and everything is new. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. GREAT PLACE!! Go to Orange Table for breakfast. I'll be back in a couple weeks. See ya.

“Very nice, though not outstanding”

We did the Luxury Link package at the Saguaro and enjoyed it a lot, though we thought the rooms were average. The room and bath were a little small and while redone, have a slightly worn feel. However, the public areas and the pools are very nice. We particularly enjoyed the Old Town Whiskey's outdoor patio - wonderful gas fire and nice service with excellent burgers. The Saguaro is perfectly located for getting to Old Town Scottsdale - just a block walk, so great for quickly getting to restaurants and art. I think the Luxury Link package made it a good deal, but I'd look a little more carefully at the price if you were paying regular rates.

“What makes a hotel a pleasure?”

The Saguaro offers a great location in that you can park your car and walk into Oldtown
Scottsdale. The staff, with whom I had limited contact, were very friendly. I guess that the boutique label refers to the fact that it is an old motel has been updated and remodeled . Our room and the halls were very clean and the beds were comfortable. The rooms were small and the air condition/heater sounded like an airplane. The pool and surrounding pool area were really beautiful.

The unpleasant part of staying here is the parking of one's car. There was a daily cost $14, plus other strange taxes for parking and of course the resort fee. Then of course, you need to valet parking and tipping there. There was alot of ambient noise from the parking lot on the weekend. No coffee pots were in the rooms.

We thank you very much for your feedback, and are glad you had an enjoyable stay. I want to apologize for the confusion on the parking charges. Complimentary parking is available within walking distance to the hotel, or we do charge $14.00 nightly for overnight parking. Our Wi-Fi and Fitness Center are complimentary and we do not have a Resort Fee, I'm very sorry if this was not communicated properly to you during your stay with us. We will use your comments as an opportunity to re-train our staff, to ensure that future guests have clarity on our parking options.

Thanks again for staying with us, and we hope to see you again in the future.
