“Excellent place to visit as well as meeting place”

Excellent clean, friendly facility. Outside pool was nice and clean, all meeting rooms were organized, clean and ready, food was amazing. There is an outdoor dinning area what was superb to be able to get out in a break time. All the food was served very much on time, what is highly important when you are in meetings all day.Great plavce.I can't wait to go spend private time and enjoy Scotsdale.

Room Tip: Every one of us ( 20 people) were very happy and satisfied with the rooms.

Thank you (and your group) for selecting our resort for your meetings and fun. We appreciate your very positive review of our resort and service provided by our staff. Although I hope your conference did allow for a little down time to enjoy the area, we do hope that you will return to take in more of the sun, the sights and the fun in and around our property.

“No More Encumbering!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

I have absolutely had it with Hotels encumbering my Debit Card for several hundred dollars at a pop, and this time Doubletree Paradise Valley is going to feel my rath. My folks were kind enough to pay for our entire stay in Scottsdale, two nights at this place. I mistakenly gave them my debit card at the front desk, they ran it and then immediately I said "I'm sorry, I gave you the wrong card, use this one" which the desk clerk ran for incidentals. Because of my little blunder, which was supposed to be to corrected at the front desk, on a room that someone else paid for, I have lost the use of $400 for 72 hours! Your hold policy is an insult to customers trying to be responsible with their money and not use a credit card.

If you walk into a hotel to check in, don't even bring a debit card with you. The hold policy is insulting and quite an inconvenience. I don't care if this is standard industry practice - end it now.

Thank you for being with us and for this feedback. I apologize that the issue with your use of a debit card overshadowed everything else and ruined your stay. Unfortunately, how a debit card works and the policies associated with its use are not made by us or any other hotel. They are the policies and procedures of the bank card itself, as it immediately freezes the amount paid in your account and requires too many days for the bank to correct and adjust for any errors. We are as frustrated as you are and also want guests to realize how it works so that they can determine for themselves if it best to use a debit card or some other form of payment.

“Good value for the location”

I found this resort to be a place I will happily return to whenever visiting Scottsdale. Staff and service were excellent, health club facilities are outstanding with all Precor machines, steam room, sauna. Nice Tennis court, good food and clean comfortable rooms with decent amenities. Grounds are quite attractive and maintained with two pool areas and a playground for kids. Almost every room has a slider and balcony or patio, so you have an excuse to use the wet bar and have cocktails...

Room Tip: Just ask front desk what's open and they will share a property map with you and allow you to cho...

“Mixed Review”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

I stayed here for 3 nights on a weekend getaway with my wife after winning a nice bid on Priceline. The price of course was great (Priceline bidding always is), and overall this is a nice property.

The hotel itself fits well with its surroundings, is nicely maintained, has very nice grounds, and the rooms appear fairly new or updated. The pools were nice, not crowded, and were heated. Overall, the facility is certainly a 4-star quality.

The location is also very good....about 2-3 miles from downtown Scottsdale, for which they offer e free shuttle to get you back and forth. They will drive you wanywhere within 2 miles of the hotel, which we used for dinner a few times.

The only issue really is service. The front desk staff that checked us in was boarderline mean (wasn't that she wasn't nice, she was almost being mean to us, for no reason). The lady was yelling at a customer on the phone before we got to her. Later when we asked to reserev a car to the airport, same thing...basically mean. Not what I expect from a hotel like this.

Other reviews mentioned long waks to their rooms....this is true, but not really a big deal to me. We were in the room farthest possible from the lobby, but the walk through the resort is pleasent....its really a nice property.

Overall, it is 4-star quality, but, they need some help with service (try being nice to guests!).

Thank you for being our guest and for this very good review and ratings. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay. I have passed your feedback onto our team and specifically to our Director of Front Office so she can address the service issues you received at our desk. This is a critical area of service and such behavior is unacceptable and will be addressed immediately. I hope that the service you received from all our other team members as well as all the positives of our property you mention show you that this experience at the front desk was an exception rather than the rule. We hope that you will return again soon and we will see you again.

“Comfortable Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Stayed here on 01.28 - 01.30 in room 2211. Check in was smooth and we were offered cookies right away which was a nice perk. We got a king size room with a mini bar facing a courtyard. The walk is far, which is fine, we aren't lazy, it's good exercise. I guess when I got a description of courtyard, I was expecting something more, but it's really just a few trees, no benches or flowers planted. Just big lemon, orange trees. At night, it's a little creepy that the room is far back. it's a ghost town and really quiet, lighting is dim. They need to brighten it up a little to make people feel more secure. If I wasn't with my fiancee, I wouldn't want to walk from the lobby all the way towards the back alone. I did request a room closer to the lobby, but they weren't ready yet.

You walk in and it's the oddest thing, there is a wall that is really close to the door, so if you are in a hurry, you're more than likely to run into it. Over to the left of the door is a closet, a full length mirror, a chair and a smaller mirror. It's a nice little changing area. Walk over to your right, there is the bathroom, minibar and just past that, there is the living area which has the bed, tv, desk, love seat and coffee table. The bed was to be a king, but it seemed more like a queen. It was comfy, but I was expecting a bigger bed. The tv was a nice flatscreen with a lot of channel offerings, I wish the alarm clock was an iphone doc. The alarm clock looked kind of old. The room had a balcony which was nice. We ordered room service when we got in, we were starving. Pretty good. I ordered a steak quesadilla, partner ordered wings both were pretty good.

Hotel is a nice 10 - 15 minute walk to The Fashion Mall. We didn't use the shuttle service. Overall an okay stay. I would suggest lowering the pricing, I don't think the room is worth $220 a night. Maybe if some things were updated or they added things to the back part of the hotel.

Thank you for selecting our resort for your visit and for this good review. From this feedback, your room and your walk to it must have been on the outer side of the resort, as if you had walked through our interior courtyard to your room, you would have seen an array of flowers, grass, benches, fountains and pools. The lemon trees you saw are around the very perimeter of the property. Our clock/radios do have a port for ipods or iphones and all our single bedded rooms are kings, but we will look to verify if something was amiss in the specific room you stayed in. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay overall and we hope that you will return again when in our area so that we can ensure you see and enjoy our resort more fully than on this trip.
