“Not bad”

I am very spoiled when I stay in the Scottsdale area. I usually stay at the Phoenician which is my hands down favorite. Because of the pro-golf tournament that was in town during our stay the rates were jacked up there so we decided to stay here for our 2 night visit. The location of the FireSky is good and bad. You are right on a main road which doesn't lend itself to an atmosphere of serenity. On the other hand, you're in walking distance of the fabulous fashion center and old town Scottsdale. During our brief stay, there seemed to be alot of single groups, possibly because of the Superbowl. The rooms were not very well sound insulated and there was alot of partying going on. Hard to say what the crowd is typically like. The hotel is clean and well run but they do allow pets...this always makes me wonder if there was a dog on my bed or carpet. Also, the rooms are in separate buildings and there are no electric door openers so when you are dragging your luggage, you have to stop and open gates and doors manually. Bell boys did not volunteer for us at any point. As I said, I'm spoiled. The pool and hot tub area is very pretty, especially at night with fires everywhere and water spouting from various fountains. There is an adequate gym on premises and a Jurlique Spa which we did not use.

Room Tip: Get a room on the second floor, otherwise your terrace area is in public view.

“So Dog Friendly”

My husband and I came to Firesky with our black lab who was scheduled for surgery for a partially torn AC in her knee and for my husband to perform a wedding for a friend. First off, the hotel is the best hotel for dogs we've ever stayed at. Bosco (the hotel dog) met us as we checked in and our dog was welcome at the pool and on the patio of the restaurant. There are also wonderful green spaces for the dog to do her business. The staff quickly learned our dog's name and story and consistently asked after her health. The day of the dog's surgery came...and went. The surgeon thought surgery wasn't necessary so here we were, stuck with a dog who was supposed to be in the hospital while we were at the wedding. After hearing of our situation, the staff offered a late check out, but we were enjoying the hotel so much, we decided to stay another night. The staff was fabulous about adding a night at the same rate we had payed for the previous two nights. The catch? We had to change rooms and had to do it at the same time we were at the wedding. The desk staff kindly offered to move our luggage... and our dog!...while we were gone. Needless to say, I was somewhat nervous about a stranger handling our dog but my husband had a wedding to perform. What were we to do? The desk staff told me to go, they'd bring my dog some treats as they moved her, they'd make sure she had water and they'd call me if there was any issue and they'd have the key to our new room waiting for us when we returned. When we came back, I had my husband drop me off at the front doors and as I rounded the corner to the registration desk, the young man behind the desk yelled out, "She's fine. Everything is fine.". Great, great people. Great, great service. Couldn't recommend it more for people with dogs. We already have our next trip there booked.

“Outstanding Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We stayed just one night on the last day of our vacation. The front desk was extremely helpful in printing out our boarding passes, providing marshmallows for toasting on the fire pits, and dealing with other concerns. We thoroughly enjoyed the "free wine" hour, but would like to clarify some confusion created by other reviewers on this site. The "free wine hour" is distinct from "happy hour." The former lasts one hour and guests are offered as much red or white wine as they can drink. The latter lasts for three hours (4-7 as I recall) and provides for reduced price drinks in the bar (e.g. $4 for a beer instead of $6) and half priced appetizers. We enjoyed the half priced appetizers so much that we didn't bother going to dinner!

After our very enjoyable 'apply hour we sat around the fire pit, toasted marshmallows and enjoyed a coffee. Sublime!

The next morning we went to the fitness facility and took a quick dip in the pool. As other reviewers have noted, the facilities are excellent.

Our complaints were the smell in the hallway, noted by other reviewers, which we brought to the attention of the front desk, and the paper-thin walls. We are not sure what to recommend to readers about choice of room location. We were not particularly happy with ours, facing the parking lot, but when we asked to change there were no other rooms available. To compensate for our dissatisfaction, the front desk gave us a free continental breakfast, so I commend management for their responsiveness to customer concerns.

“Great place to stay”

My husband and I stayed here one night and were very happy with our stay. The room was really nice and the grounds were beautiful. The staff was really nice, and even gave me a free fruit for breakfast. The hallway did have a little smell, but it did not impact my stay here. I would definitely stay again.
